Limbaugh Blasts Black Quarterback on ESPN

PHILADELPHIA - New ESPN commentator Rush Limbaugh said on the network's pregame show that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback do well.

McNabb called the whole thing "sad," but an ESPN spokesman said he didn't think the comments were racially biased.

"He was comparing McNabb's performance on the field to his reputation in the media," spokesman Dave Nagle said Tuesday. He said Limbaugh doesn't do interviews.

On ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown," Limbaugh, the outspoken conservative radio talk show host, said he didn't think McNabb was as good as perceived from the start. The quarterback's career has included two straight NFC championship games and MVP runner-up.

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well," Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

The funny thing is back in the days when football became an intergrated game they said that blacks couldn't play quaterback or middle linebacker because they weren't smart enough for the positions because these two positons requierd intellegence and that black people didn't have any..when in actuality These happen to be the two positions on both sides of the ball that reqiuer leadership and they didn't and still don't want blacks in that situation ...The greatest middle linebacer to play the game was black(mike singletary) and a black quaterback didn't only win a super bowl but he led the nations capitol team

If you want to talk about over rated Footbal player why didn't he mention Brian Urlacher or Zack thomas...Neither one of those middle linebackers are better than ray lewis or takio spikes....I don't want to come across racist but they are the great white hopes of middle linebackers in football and I bet any amount of money if Donovan Mcnabb was a free agent every team in the leauge would give him an offer sheet

YO! big up to Mike Singletary. Anyhow, its just another example of the bullshit politics that control today's media. This guy clearly only got the job because he has pull in that department. I can name a hundred guys who deserved that job before he did. Too bad he resigned before he could get fired. That would have made a huge statement on espn's side especially after that jackass espn representative tried to justify his comments. Fuck Rush Limbaugh! and his reputation. He has probably made worse comments in his long career in radio. It was only a matter of time before he got bagged (bout time). Espn should know better than that. He should have been yanked form that position during the commercial break. Can anyone tell me what the reaction was like by his fellow commentators who witnessed this act of bigotry? I was suprised when i hear he worked for espn too, he was in politics for so long and always wanted to be involved with sports, then i guess he go that job. but n e way, if this comment came from another person, it most likely would have been "out of line" but coming from him, its racist. his past and his past comments about race will show that, i never liked the dude, and im not even that old to really have paid attention when i was younger. my dad and i was discussing the matter, he told me that he thinks he rush has a "code" he will say slick shyt, kinda like a slick azz chick, and know what i means,but leave it up to you to figure out what it REALLY means, im glad he is gone, and i am glad i havent been watching espn when he was on there..i would have never watched it again, except for my man stuart..holla
