why does lil jon use the same clap snares in every beat wit the same hi hat and always gotta use a synth to make a beat..iight i get that he is good at makin the clubs shyt and krunk but if u realli think that he got tru raw talent for producing hip hop then i have no words for u...wut yall think of this dude as far as talent level....?

hey i remember swizz used to do the same stuff. even neptunes. then when eveyone get tired they swith it up. So its all about the customers. if nobody complains he'S gonna continue doing the same stuff.

as for talent. i used to think people that did that sucked but then i realised it takes alot of skillz and creativity to be able do do a whole bunch of diferent beats ( as in more than 50) with the same drumset and synths.

and in a sens, if you listen to any rock band or solo guitarist, then your usually hearing the same sounds over and over again.

Don't sleep on Lil' Jon's skills. I've hear some un-released shit he did and it was far from what we hear on the radio. Dude does have some chops. But I hear you on using the same drums. I think I read in Scratch that Lil Jon said that the 808 kit is the main ingredient for down south beats. Shit just bangs in the clubs.

Ok Ok I feel your frustration with the monotone selection of drumz this man uses. But he's found a niche and he's runnin wit it. Old adage: If it aint broke then don't fix it. But as far as talent level I think it'll be better to question that after his sound has been a lil more time tested. Then will he be able to accomodate or reinvent his sound for the changing times to prove his skills. And if not then his flames will start to dwindle.

I peeped Lil" Jon's repetiveness from tha' jump. He took a few sounds and made it into his "signature sound". Can't knock him for that. Everytime you hear those sounds; he's the first person you think of as the possible producer of the beat. That's pretty powerful if you ask me.

I like Lil' Jon's sounds actually. As far as talent...he produces hits right now, so I think that explains itself.

I don't think the repetiveness is bad. I think it's actually good to develop one's own style using a small amount of sounds. I bet he does so well BECAUSE the sounds are the same. They sound like bangers immediately because people associate the sounds with previous songs.

I am currently striving to develop my own unique sound by reducing hundreds of drum and percussion sounds down to about 20 total sounds (effects can be added later to create variation). It's sort of like brand recognition.

Just a thought.

I feel ya. Most dope producers have a signature sound or style. I feel like if you wanna distance yourself from the pack of other beat makers and producers then you have to make some kind of distinction between your sound and the normal standard. I stay tryin to make my distinction.

Now that's some cruel, but funny shit. LOL Like I said in an earlier post, I had the opportunity to hear some stuff lil' Jon did (R&B) that's not released yet. Believe me, he may not be contributing to hte betterment of hip hop, but he does his thing for the betterment of music in general. Dude is versitle, but he's just paying bills right now. Remember, he don't rin the industry, that's what they want to put out.
