I don't think there's a seperate intity other than labels that are offering this to independents! Ash, that might be the dream job you've been looking for!!!!! Think about it.....if u can't plug that into google and come up with a gang of hitz it's untap'd!!!!!

MAYBE SOMETHING ILLMUZIK AS A COLLECTIVE SHOULD LOOK INTO FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS!

I use this site to make ringtones of my tracks and send them to my phone and peeps I know. It's good promotion tool as well if you compile contact phone numbers. You can post your ringtones and sell them but there are too many shared ones on this site to really try to sell your own I think. I haven't even tried.

I've searched and haven't found one! At least not one on a Professional level like the companys that you named. Shit would be dope tho.

If u could get the ringtone peeps to have the same hunger that most of us use to have as far as trying to get new and underground music first that no one else had. That shit could blow the fuck up....4REAL! MO MONEY MO MONEY!

And if u only found like one place that may do this it still means it's virtually untap'd!

I've tried it ... Works, haven't tired charging for ringtones
but have used it and people text and recieve the ringtone
as a download ... Easy and i'm def using it soon to sell.

Same one I use...I posted the link earlier. This market is definitely untap'd for Independents. Somebody or IllMuzik collectively should look into running with this idea.

we tried the ringtone thing awhile back, but it wasn't working,,,,Freak is the ringtone man.

this happens when u make a step to early.
first u need commercial success then when u have a big name then the kidz want to have your ringtone.

so ash its a good move to watch out for those ringtone companies but IMO its too early.

^^^ to early for what? ... why not have ringtones avaialable? .. what is the downside of having them even I dont sell any? Plus I can create ringtones from other stuff beside hip hop. Imma bit of a comedian and Im good at manipulating my voice and impersonations so i figure i can make some funny shit that people might want to download. There a no downside to the having the product out especially since it does cost u anything to have it out. What mathematics are you on?

Trust me, I personally sat in about 15 meetings with people/companies who were trying to incorporate the projects I'm working with the whole ringtone distribution game, it's not as untapped of a market as you may believe, it's actually pretty saturated at this point - it's just that hip hop artists are just discovering side revenue from ringtone sales.
A lot of the earlier meetings go as far back as early 2006, so its been around believe that.

A lot of the companies basically set up through tunecore (or other providers) and then bring the service to you, the consumer - basically a middleman arrangement.

One of my good friends/business patnas based in the Midwest has taken his whole independent musical "empire" to the digital world and he offers people ringtone deals and stuff like that. It all falls under digital distribution. Watching him do his thing and providing advice etc. has made my overall knowledge of the subject pretty in-depth.

If you are an artist or production company: Your homework is to learn EVERYTHING you can about Digital Distribution = It's how you will be earning the bulk of your profit 10-15 years from now.

We know ringtones @ the majors and mini majors is big business. Some of the majors are actually offering ringtone deals as opposed to record deals. We were referring to a ringtone intity geared strictly to independent artist!

Exactly. That's my point - nothing I was referenced in the previous post was based on a major/mini major ringtone deal at all- most independents that are taking advantage of this new way of getting money are doing this by setting up digital distribution deals which can include ringtones as well.

I would be cautious upfront of any ringtone company that claims to represent the "up and coming artist" The reason why you don't hear about that many who market to strictly independents is because that's not where the $$$ is with ringtones.
The D4Ls, Soulja Boys, T-Pains, and Akons is what makes them money.
If your music generates enuff interest to cover that overhead for setting up an arrangement, then its fine. Until then, you can create your own ringtones and sell them thru Snocap or another service like that and own the rights to the music.

Like I said, my homie was in the same boat as most up and coming artists, but he maximized his position and got his digi distribution deal going and took it to the next level
and became a full service ringtone distributor, where he offers full-service ringtone production, and cuts you a % of the profit, etc.

Any independent artist that has their local radio on lockdown (especially) or a vicious online promotions team can make a good profit from ringtone sales provided their team sets everything up prior to promoting the single(s).
