I just wanted to tell those who doubt FL's capabilities to please experiment with this software to the fullest because it can do a lot more than you will ever think. I don't know the technical side of EQing and filtering and all that but the other day I took the loop from one of Michael Jackson's old CDs that Big Pun used on his firts album. i EQ'd the hell out of that sample and filtered the pianos. When i got done it sounded like an opera was playing the loop and felt real dirty and grimey. I couldn't believe I was actually tweaking knobs like I knew what I was doing. Then i realized, I did know what I was doing.

All you have to do is play a sample, and experiment with effects what the sample sounds like. Learning those knobs will get you real far. Trust me!!
Also, who has used FL to filter out samples and just keep the bassline. I have done this to a certain extent, but never get that far. Anybody got any tips?

i paired up fruity loops with my Roland Fantom and got some pretty awesome results... The Fantom I use for drum patterns and base lines and sometimes melodies... I use fruity loops to resequence the pattern and change it into a Wav form and export the samples for later use or alteration... I was considering getting Reason but Fruity Loops is easy to use and it took me months to take baby steps with my Fantom....

I once read an article that sad Pharell uses an old sequencer cuz newer ones are too complicated and I see what he means. With no help and limited outside resources learning a new Sequencer can be a bitch... and the more realistic software tries to emulate the functionality of real hardware the more complex and more days u get of "WHY THE FUCK AM I GETTING NOWHERE"

So to reduce frustration and spamming this site with help thread ile stick to Fruity and get the new version and keep learnin from there... I give a fuck about what a nigga thinks is professional or kiddie software... Ime secure with mine

****Smiles to all the hoe ass producers out there layin on there backs*** <<<u can tell ime a mobb fan right...dont take offense now ladies

I think its about perspective, technical know-how you gain by the years you practice. Pharrel said that he was used to doing work with the 01/w and didn't bother learning another sequencer because in all a sequencer is a ... sequencer. But, on the other it's not that hard, every sequencer consist basic functions which you find. . . on every sequencer.

How hard can it be ...

I give a fuck about what a nigga thinks is professional or kiddie software... Ime secure with mine

word, they should name Give-a-Fuck-Loops.

I mean a sequencer is a sequencer but its like an instrument and has its strengths and weaknesses and takes the right person to capitalize on it. And it takes practice.... i read alot of posts where guys think they need to switch sequencers because they hear from a nother cat this sequencer got all these features and can do this and that when they don't even know the basics of the program they are using and dont even have the music theory to capitalize on a sequencers features. And they dont even realize that this cat promoting his software or hardware makes his beats totally different from the next cat...

All I am saying is stick to what you know and upgrade only when necessary.. Because for me the first few months with my Fantom was hell... Looking at all these buttons and not knowing what to do with em... I am still learning now but it took a long time to get things going and by combining things with Fruity Loops I can finish more beats where as before I was getting stuck on the Fantom and couldnt move things around with me....

If I had gotten Reason thinking it would make things go smooother I would have spent another set of months reading up on it and trying to get things going when I could spend that time finishing a beat tape and setting up meetings with people who can really help me... or makin more beats

I am all about right now kid... I got no time to be gettin in the heated debates as cats do on here about what is better and the software they use or how there this is better than that... So I try to stick with what I know and can afford...

hey just email me and ile send u some clips of my beat N.U.G. I am in the process of moving to cali so I don't get to post that often or ide put em up in the forum... joblack00@aol.com

Ez,

1. Hit Shift+9, set the Sync In to midiclock.
2. In FL hit F10 and in the midi tab, at Master Sync Output you must select a midi device ( xxxx MPU-401 )

The mpc is now slaved to FL and auto-clock the bpm.

or

1. Hit Shift+9, set the Sync Out to midiclock.
2. In FL hit F10 and in the midi tab, at Remote Control Input you must select a midi device ( xxxx MPU-401 ) and leave the controller type to generic controller.

FL is now slaved to the mpc.

Whatever suits you...

1.
