laying rhymes on demo beats

i was just thinking...MCs make beats sound better to the average ear.
but you want the buyers focus to be on the beat when he is checking out your song. hmmmmmm

is it a good idea to have an MC rhyming over your beat when you are trying to sell it or not? why?

id leave da beat witout rappaz on it so dat wen da mc is listenin 2 it dey can try n flow over da beat, if theres already vocals on there, it wnt sound gd wen he tryin 2 rap on it.

I'd say that you should leave the beat as it is, without adding raps on top of it.
The reason is plain simple - an mc would like to hear the sounds that the beat offers to see if he likes it or not.
Vocals may (and usually they do) distract him from the beat.
A Beat should stay instrumental until after the mc decides to do something with it :dance:

yes definetly leave the vocals off, if they really like it they will tell you they have already written to it. Then they will pay you dinero for it.

it depends on if u selling to an individual or presenting to a label..labels wanna hear how your tracks sound with an artist on it, mc's just wanna hear a dope beat..keep that into consideration.

yeah i agree wit guevara .. . if u tryin to get signed or attract attention from labels.....i say put the mc on it(if he nice) .... they wanna know how u work wit the artist as well as the just the beat.... if u just tryin to sell beats...just put the instro's

or even better, to add to my comment and holmzinis comment, if u really wanna impress the label find an acapella of one of their artist and throw it on one of your beats, i put G.O.D III (mobb deep) on one of my beats and there were industry heads who were feeling it and said that it made them take the beat more serious, kinda gave them a vision...do what u gotta do.peace.
