x board 49 hooked up on USB. what is the latency? is it better to leave it on USB or should i switch to MIDI OUT?

the latency i have its mainly from the AC97 card right? so if i switch i with the M-audio 2496 the latency from my keyboard to my monitors should tend to 0 number?

What's the specs on the comp ur working with?

Built for studio ( at least thats what i had in mind )

1024 MB RAM
AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 3800+ ( real cycle 2.00GHz )
Windows XP Pro SP 2
USB 2.0

soundcard? M audio right?

You shouldn't have latency using this setup..

1. i want to upgrade to M-audio i was just wonderin about the latency from the midi controler to the compuer MIDI/USB ( wich is better ). i have a built in AC97 at this time. and i know that an ASIO card will bring down my latency but i was reffering to latency prior reachin the soundcard.

Oh if you have a built in soundcard, you can try and download asio4all and see if that settles the problem, but without a soundcard it is quite normal to have latency..

u should have a soundcard.. U'll have to look in to that, make sure u buy a 192khz soundcard so u got that good quality and more headroom..
