latency

i recently got logic pro 7.1. im running my shit into a yamaha 12 channel mixer through a beringher compressorand then into a presonus fire box into my g5. ive used cubase and pro tools before this and neither had as much latency. is there any way to reduce the amount of latency i have or do i just have to live with it?
