Wow, dope post!

It's so true though, all those years there was just so much good material coming out. The issue with today is that everyone's the same. Back then there were a bunch of different styles and that's what made it so good. Someone like De La Soul would come out with their music and it was great. They would never change things up or say something like "we have a bit of everything on this album".

Yes really dope post. The perspective of a true hip hop head.
Hip hop used to be about being fresh and original. That alone made it such a diverse and creative genre.
Poetry to music. It got all political and shit. It had a powerful voice that propelled it into the mainstream.

92 was also a very good year....

Das Fx - Dead Serious,
Redman - Whut Thee Album,
Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride 2 The Pharcyde,
Comptons Most Wanted - Music To Driveby,
Pete Rock and CL Smooth - Mecca And The Soul Brother
and not to forget
Diamond D - Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop

That sort of diversity wont be back for a while.
The wrong sort of people control the industry now.
Peoples attitudes towards music have changed too I think.
The are so many forms of entertainment these days in the palm of your hand that music as a popular entertainment isnt really anything like it used to be. There are so many more ways to entertain ourselves now. Im not sure it will ever be the same.
