YEa these are clips from a big producer special they are showing on MTV2 this month.

All the big name producers will be talking about their setups etc....

clas....
Did they already show it this month, or are they going to show it later this month. The only good thing about MTV is that they will show it a million times even if I did miss it.

I bug out when I see those clips. I'm like "Damn! They giving away the secrets!".

I did read an article in Complex with Mr. Blaze. I guess he started a label and has one artist so far. Saigon.

Now this is the wild part.

We all know Blaze is huge. But he said he had to start the label to get into other things to help make more money because just producing wasn't getting him much doe.

I just realized that I am telling you guys things you probably already know.

"As a producer who's not an artist, you hit a glass ceiling eventually. I don't wanna rap, I don't wanna sing. If you really think about it, not many producers have lasted who never did anything but produce. At some point you gotta find another angle. Otherwise, do you wanna sit there and make beats forever? It's just like rapping — artists tell me all the time that they get bored with it after a while."

"You have to make good music, but you have to know how to sell it."

"What I'm trying to accomplish with this whole thing is to connect more pieces to both sides of the puzzle and still make commercial success out of it."

Maybe I read too much into what he was saying but when I hear people say they need another angle, that means you need another hustle to get more money. Everyone one of the 8 questions he was asked in that article had to do with business, not creativity and music production. The second question did have to do with his music editing but it was still about how he brands his songs with his name as a commercial device.

So no, he didn't say he wasn't getting doe as a prodcuer word for word, but I felt the gist of the article was:

"I could just produce beats the rest of my life but that ain't where the money is at."

His first question was about the money he missed out on in the Ring-Tone biz.

there is no way that JB isn't gettin mad money off this shit, the dude has produced hits that have been in the top of the charts every time they get released. it cannot be due to a money thing, because believe me, the dude is getting paid.

Those clips are cool, its rare you see the "Big-timers" talk so candidly about their production techniques.
