4 real. I feel her frustration and I like Jane Grae as an MC but what she is basically saying is that shyt aint woring for her so she's complaining about why things are going bad for her instead of finding another way to make it work. Baby girl needs a good agent/manager and to learn from people in the industry who are dope and make $$$. There's always a way...

just my opinion.

i agree with the comments. i definitely stay knowledgable on the business end for my own protection. the love is in the music though, not the industry, i could never blow or get signed, i'll still be making music. of course i'd be happier if music was my full time job paying the bills. so thats what i work towards. but it seems that everyone that opens the doors ends up disappearing. i.e. rawkus. def jux seems to be the only indie label that does what it wants and is sucessful at it.

My review:
Beat is hot and fresh, but the style of rapping should've been re-invented to match that flow. I am definitely gonna sample this baby, but I believed this track has potential if was produced by someone who would have the courage to push the energy outta jean, to me her lyrics can compare to sommin foxy - but she sound scurred of the microphone.

and Jean know your not reading this but dont call your albums, dumb names like Attack Of The Attacking Things or Bootleg Of The Bootleg LP this is just one of the things I believe slows an artiste down in regards to showing creativity and my next advice spread Hot Ass photos of yourself - not pics of you in mud and low res thumbnails. It took me a half hour to find a track of one your albums, that a lot of time for an exec. (too much time).
Post positive articles of show times not those long ass whiny complains bout the industry, detail plans for the future - get a message board or forum and maintain it. You could've gained one fan today if I'd have found more better materials to fall for - they aren't available, so sorry you loose a fan that easily. So you see there a tons of things that aren't being done to create your 'door' to the industry, ma.

you didn't like that track! its not my favorite jean grae joint(hate the hook) but damn! her style is precise and straight laidback. its not hype. thats who she is. you should hear taco day off that album. a 12 minute classic about a girl who shoots up her high school. i agree about not being able to find her music. i can find it easy, but i know where to look.

As I already said, if she's willing to compromise, she would probably have made it by now, but she's not.
Also, she was a feature on Masta Ace's last album. She knows enough people to try and make it happen.

Oh, and if anybody wants to read a little interview I did with the producer of those 2 songs you mention, "Taco Day & "The hurt", it's under the articles section here on Illmuzik.

Seems like Roccafella is going to front the commercial hiphop with some true skills opposed to the 1000 and 1 thugs and eminems that bring out daily trash. Jay-Z appearantly stopped rapping and I hope for now that he can create a buzz in the current hiphop industry, seperating the no-tastes from those with the talent to represent a commercial label. I aint naive to consider it an impossible move when realising that those who make the top decision are all old white men who've been dealing with chart material since Elvis and basicly know jack shit on hiphop issue. As if they would be bothered about what hiphop really should sound like, we just products. Hence Jean Grae's issue upon the industry right now. If hiphop would take a new form where real skill get exploited than we can go back to 93/94/95 where any videoclip was a good feature of the hiphop community, not the hollywood notorious with the hollywood rotary clib in the background. In that case I suggest that all those underground mc's who get credit from the underground scene would sign with roccafella when Jay-Z's intentions seem to look like it ( I get my info here, Blackmoon signing with RF is also news, but clearly states my point ). Besides, Dre is doing the same thing, Redman, Eric Sermon, Rakim, 50ct etc. The difference is that it is obvious he is using them for a purely lucrative purpose and it has nothing to with skills, just exploiting an old name for bling bling and make another fashionable icon. Now if Jay-Z will do the same job with Jean Grae as Dre does to his veteran league of mc's than my positive theory will go up in smoke.
