uh no, sorry you are off with the south music being "slowed down techno". techno uses different patterns alltogether, kicks hats and all are done in different patterns.... now to say they use techno sounds, thats different...... lil john doesnt sample, and trance is much different then any lil jon song i have heard...

and, you really cant "tell" someone how to make a memorable song... you cannot instruct the natural feel people have to have to create memorable music. you can teach technique, theory and principles...... but feel and instinct can not be taught.

that being said, i must respectfully disagree that making something catchy is "easy"- while it may be easy for you to do personally, your own feel for something does not translate to another persons abilities.

^^^ Was being Sarcastic with the soutern Music being slowed techno sorr you took that serious thats westcoast thing

Im talkin the sounds not the patterns

Cold Truth Lil John Samples HEavy buddy raygay and Trance Synths.. I never said he Samples it and uses the raw material.. but he uses a Trance LEad in most of his Music.. yes he changes it up but its still Trance and raygay source..

Sampling is more than just Talking and looping and choppin it goes Deeper than that

And i wasn't Instructing i was givin Tips it will work for some and may not work for others

I just dont understand how you listen to someones material call it hot and have no idea how to create something similar

So lil john is southern music????? I dont think so, thats just one genre of southern music

I mean if u want to be techinal DJ premire is southern music, I mean the cat is from texas. Its just that he took that sound up north with him, think about it.

If he had stayed in texas, east coast would be south LOL

My point being, that

A. southern music is FAR from slowed down techno
B. more then one genere of southern music
C. some forms of hip hop are harder for people to make then others. It may be easy for u to make a club beat but the next man may have a totally differnt ear and menalitity

class....

um

i watch dwayne wade cross people up crazy every game i watch from him. doesnt mean i can do the same thing..... i see him do it, i see how his body moves, i can try my best to learn it but its just not in me... i know people that are awesome musicians and players, know theory up the ass and cant compose for shit... point is just because you can do something easily, it doesnt mean others have that same intuition for it.... club beats arent all that easy for me, but i can turn out head nodders in my sleep. thats what i do. a club beat, i could do im sure, but it wouldnt come so naturally. hence the reason for the topic.

as far as the trance/raggae thing.... i'll leave that a lone, i think we are on complete different pages there.

I never said Lil's style was the whole south. yes its one Genre of southern music but its. still southern jsut simple as that

A. i also said i was bein sarcastic...
B. yea its like that with any Genre
C. I know this this is why i said you gotta develope the Ear for it

why do people like to take Bits and piece of what i say comment on them instead of the whole picture?? not u classic im talkin ingeneral

i give people Tips and one man Claims in trying to instruct people...

tell a person south music is slowed techno and people think i mean slowed in its raw form using its raw patterns

Tell a to experiment or read a manual they wanna be a dick and have the nerve to get pissed

Main thing thats hard for me to understand is.. if you can dance to it hear it like it. how can u not mimic it? Especially if you already know the basics

Well, going back to the topic, I think making a catchy club beat depends on the style of club beat you wanna do. Club beats are REALLY different wheter you're from the west, south, east or midwest... "In the Club", "Got it twisted" and "Yeah!" are club beats, but they are really different!!!

There we go takin what i say for more than it is.. watching someone Cross over is is different from hearing someone structure an Instrumental 2 different things... and if u can do a basic Cross over yes u can Mimic that crossover that whoever does noone said get it perfect i said Similar

I can understand if you couldn't know how to do the basics of crossover then tried to mimic him

or you didnt know the basic of Synth Making.. then tried to mimic someones Synth

Yes your Right a Player is a Player a composer is a composer those are 2 different things

Everyone here Makes beats in this Sections from what i assume.. So if know the basics of how its made then how it can it hard to mimic? thats the question?

See here is what i see online and offline people dont sit down a study the basic to anythin.. they try to Jump right into it get pissed ff because they dont know what to do.. sit witth basic once u get that down the rest comes

and if u would like we to Post or Ref u to some Vinyl where john has sample i will do so

whoa...... no need to catch feelings man, nobody was attacking you. why are you taking it so personal? there is a such thing as respectfully disagreeing, and thats all it was. do you take every disagreement as a personal attack? nobody got an attitude with you, nobody got pissed...

giving tips/instructing- its all semantics, whatever you want to call it, it makes no difference. it wasnt a negative thing at all...all i was saying is, you cant tell someone how to do something like that. it has to simply come to them, no amount of "tips" can give someone the feel they need to do something like that...... its obviously not as easy for you as it is for him, he obviously doesnt have the feel that you do. i know you have a hard time "getting" the fact that people can like something and not be able to replicate it, but that is just the way things are. certain things i can replicate with ease, other things, not so easily.

oh, and "people" and "one man" would be me, obviously. why are you taking a simple disagreement so damn personally?

*edit

as far as the lil jon thing, yeah i would like to hear the sample- not on some "show me" tip, but i am curious about it.

who got pissed, seriously? did i miss something? the guy said it was hard for him to do.

one im not catching feelings. or takin anything personal. I wasn't telling people how they should do it i was givin pointers in other words if what you do doesn't work try this. take it or leave it.. and ur right th tips wont give there feel but its helps points them in the direction to see how simple something can be.

And never said anyone was attacking where did that come from.. how can anyone tell how anyone feels through text on these boards im just replying....

Edit werd i will drop some sample Sources that he has used there is a Reason why He has a turntable in his setup
<-- has seen the pro tools Session let me get back in the Studio i will post soon

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol,

anyhow qwerty........

my suggestion to you is to just... work on it. you play keys, right? just spend some time playing. spend some time figuring out chord progressions and creating riffs over a simple pattern, and you'll be straight.

What?

I'm pissin myself laughing at how many of you are saying how easy it is to produce Club tracks - if it's that easy I'm assuming you think your good at it - so how come i'm not spinning any of your bets in the clubs i DJ at over the weekend?

I agree w/ Producer_Gyal about the sad beat thing. I mean I'm not the most up beat person, but I'm not the most downbeat person either. For some reason I can make a sad beat in an instant. Probably cuz I like strings and strings can automatically add a somberness to a track. It also depends on how you play the keys, you know legato, steccatto etc.... Maybe if you were to start a track when you're in a hype ass booty shakin club mood, then it might come out that way. Try makin a beat before you go out or after you get home and you still haved that club energy.

hey i agree with you. When it comes to make sad beat, we know the strings sound great and are easy to play with them. Now, if you want to make a hard beat or a club joint, we have to use the sound differently. In my opinion, it aint easy. It would be really nice to see everyone's skills, especially from people who said that making a club beat was easy.

When it comes to Club music/Dance music it's all in the mix, dance music mix engineers are the only people in the "mixing" industry that can demand royalitys from the track they mixed, that in it self shows you how much importance is placed on getting every sound right, so theirs more to it then just something catchy
