BigD speaks tha truth, but there are a ton of other prorams like fruity these days. Tha only other prgm that i know of though thats been around as long or longer iz Reason, and Cubase...I currently use Reason, and im 100% happy with this software...it does everything it says it does, plus its very intuitive - which iz important in transending an idea quickly onto tha computer. I havent used fruity yet, but from what i read - fruity has a less intuitive interface vs. reason, as well as tha ergonomics inside tha prgm...Reason iz apparently easier to switch and see your music rack, and plug n go type action makes it quick and painless to hook things up and start new ideas. Theres probably not a very large difference between tha two though...But just as future referance - There a million refills you can buy for Reason which are usuallymore than enough sounds for days and days of production, plus Reason supports Wave (.wav), AIFF (.aif), SoundFonts (.sf2), REX file slices (.rex2, .rex, .rcy), Any bit depth, Any sample rate, and Stereo or Mono files...ever since there first release - Reason 1.0....PLus, with Reason you can use tha refill packer and make your own refills which a awsome space saver!...Any random files which have been downloaded from tha net or files that have simply accumulated on your computer that are to be used for music production can packed into a conveinant refill which reduces tha file size of all your audio almost half of what it used to be - without any quality lost!.......So now you got some info on reason....Hope i helped you out!
