ahh so the bassments the place to vent things on the mind so tonight i got a few. for the producers out there it's important to find your nitche of mc and find them accordingly. yeah sure they might be hard to find; but once you find someone you'd like to work with then realize what tempo they can work with.. then that know what deep melodies will set them off. my main complaint with working with producers is they make beats so that the mc has to work around them.. and that just is not they way great music is made. for example my tempo is around 180-190 snare taps normally.. it gives me time to work natuarally within my realm. ........................ this is about the moment where i'd formally ask a question to disscusse but instead use your imagination. humm well do you take these things into mention? get me back tonight on this an i'll drop seriousness from the inner reccesses

i usually have an emcee in mind with all my beats, i work with a couple local guys and i will make a beat for them so i know they will be able to jump right on the track. the most frustrating thing for me is when i have this beat that me and the mc both like and we cant make a song because the mc cant fit himself in it, i think it is very important to have your mc's in mind when making a beat. thats unless you are completely idependent and dont give a shit about what the mc thinks IMO

180-190?? I hope you mean 80-85, and you're just double-counting, otherwise you're on some Drum & Bass/Jungle-Hop shit haha...who knows, maybe thats the next big thing!

he is prob double his bpm, i do the same thing, so in it is only about 90+ bpm, which is about standard for hip hop

i usually do about 170-90, when i make my tracks

i used to make all my tracks in the 70bpm range because it was more comfortable creating melodies that way. Very few liked my tracks lol. Now I keep my bpm settings at 85 by default an usually increase it from there to make sure there is energy. Of course, it's always adjusted according to the track that's being made.

I usually listen to any material an artist has before I go into making something with them, or at least discuss what we are going for. I always let them know that i dont make "kanye type beats" an shit off the bat an that anything I make will be with "My style" not a "dre" style or whatever cliche they are tryna get out of me. I do have to agree, pick who you work with carefully.

I just worked with these guys and made them a sick beat, one of my utmost personal favorites... an they flopped big time. I recorded mellow scratching on the chorus an the first dude raps throughout the whole chorus, then does HIS chorus in the breakdown I had made for after the chorus. I know thats confusing, but so is the track. Jumbled mess of shit mp3 is what they sent me back.

My beats usually are in the 85-90 BPM range. I guess 85-95 BPM is the standard.

Mine vary from 90 - 95 i'll almost never make beats slower than this because then it won't have as much energy at least that's how i feel..

It's hard to make a beat pump at a slower pace, that doesn't mean i put my tracks at techno/hardcore rates.. haha...

I jsut drop em in at 250 beats p/m and start banging my head..!!!

most of my beats are in the 160 range, but im going to start trying teh ranges you all are using. it's hard to nail down a melody when it's going that fast

Mine usually range from 70-85 and I rarely go any higher than 85 . . . And my beats still have energy at a slower tempo . . .

i'm usually in th 70 - 100 range. i feel what you're saying about taking the artist into consideration. my problem is that i have this one artist that's tight on a slower tempo, but he swears up and down that he can flip a faster beat, and i just can't convince him that his sweet spot is 80 - 90.

and yeah, i hate that "gimme a lil jon, kanye, pastor troy beat." my response is always "call them mf's and get them to make you a beat." i don't get down like that.
