What's up everyone I'm Mcrob and I'm a rapper that wants to get into producing hip hop. I have been rhyming for two years now. I have many programs such as cool edit pro 2000, cubase, cakewalk, fruity loops 3.4, acid, etc. I have been through many producers in Canada that isn't good at all so I want to get into producing myself. How many of you people sample off old records, and what are some of the turnables that you guys think are good for sampling old records.

ps. Fade are you a girl or is that just a pic? If you are really a girl you look cute

LOL, that's funny. No, I'm not a girl, that's a pic of a pornstar. I've been thinking of changing that pic anyway....

If you're looking for a turntable just to play records and sample them, anything will do. You only need a decent turntable if you're trying to do some scratching. But for just playing, get something basic. The only problem with basic, old turntables is that the needles are crap so that might do some damage to your records.

Is there anyone here that does nothing but sample off old records? Like as a low budget and doesn't have enough dough to buy big equipment like synths and extras (Like me) but has music softwares at home.

Mcrob, I sample off of vinyl from my drums, and sometimes for other sounds. Most of the time it's just for the drums. If you're using mainly a PC, then get some soundfonts or if you can afford a cheap sound module (used would be good), then you can do a lot of stuff.

Yo Equity, the Technics aren't shit! They're the best tables around. Sure the Vestax are nice, but the Technics have been around for years and are much more stable (and better looking) than the Vestax, IMO. The Vestax tables look like toys. ;)

 First I thought a lot of peeps here do a lot of sampling off records but I'm wrong. LIke you guys have the nice equipment to make those beats, but I don't. You guys don't get it do you. Plus I'm not going to download beats of the internet cause I heard them before I downloaded them and they sucked shit.:booty:

If you want to sample off of vinyl, you don't necessarily need gear, except for you computer. The programs you have are more than enough to sample & make beats. I'm basically using just a PC right now to do beats.

Hehe, you're right about that Fade, those vestax turntables look like toys, but they make my favorite dj mixers.

fuck it you know what mean I'm just going to doing a lot of sampling. I don't get a shit if anyone here thinks sampling sucks OR composes their own beats using synths ans shit but I can't afford any synths nor big hardware so I am going to get my self a turnable and get like fucking 200+ records and do my shit there. I already know how to chop up sounds and I got FL to squences. What software squeuncers do you guys have or suggest?

:cool
