Because AKAI still sucks. My Digitakt is pretty wild so I have an Octatrack and a Rytm on the way. They seem to be doing the most innovative stuff in the sampler sequencer space.

Did I mention Akai is a garbage company.

Anyway, I will have some learning to do in the next few weeks. Fun times!

LOL. Is Elektron on their own? Because I know Akai and a bunch of others are under Inmusic or something like that.

I haven't checked out much of Elektron but aren't the units really small? I can't remember if it was the Digitakt or something similar when I saw it in person and how tiny it was.

Elektron is on their own.
Akai, Numark, Alesus, M-audio, Denon, Stanton, Gibson are all owned by inMusic
I have literally heard Akai executives refer to their customers as "Dumbass beat makers"

Also I just found out that they refused to pay Roger Linn his royalties. I do have an MPC One but I really don't want to support InMusic at all. Too bad I really like Stanton. oh and a tempest is 100% on my to buy this year list.

and yes, I am amazed and how tiny the Digitakt is, the other ones are a bit bigger but holy cow this thing can do some crazy random stuff once you get to grips with it.

Foul @thedreampolice what Akai execs said about their customers as that reeks of some "this is what they think about you" you being "urban" consumers shit. I wish Elektron still made the Analog Keys as that would be something I'd try.

Good to know they're on their own. When I heard that Alesis was bought out I was really disappointed because I always liked their stuff. Remember their NanoSynth, Nanoverb, etc?

I remember you saying about what Akai said. That's just bad. Those dumbass beat makers are what put them on the map.

And yeah I saw that video of Linn back then, I feel bad how they did him in.

I have the 2500 but trust me if I had the $$$ I would grab one of Roger Linn's originals like the 3000 or 60, just out of spite from Akai.

I've reached out to Akai over the years about partnerships, through their website and through social media and not once did they ever hit me up. I guess they really don't want to deal with dumbass beat makers!

Digitakt is a crazy machine, its simple to get going and surprisingly deep. Its just a wild thing. Elektron gear just has soul, something Akai hasn't had in years. I would argue the MPC2kxl was the last MPC with soul, although the 2500 is probably better overall once you replace the garbage stock pads.

What @thedreampolice you said about the MPC2KXL is why I'm keeping mine, only regret is I didn't do the warranty option when I copped mine from GC in 2013.
