Dude...this was a huge post at ughh. Somewhere around 82 posts. I'd say about 80 percent was not feeling him. I have noticed when something starts out small...everyone one can't get enough of it...its exclusive. But as soon as it blows up, people get tired of it.

I remember when Wu first dropped. People couldn't get enough. Not quite the same anymore.

Hey,

He's a big hit because hip hoppers in general are all a bunch of sheep and they've been told by people that he's good, so they beleive it.

I would LOVE to see him make a track and play it on the radio WITHOUT putting his name on it, to see if it does well...

ithink 50 is hot. I mean lyrically hes not really bringin much to the game, but 50, unlike most rappers doesn't TRY to be a gangsta, he just is. Hes just being himself on the wax which is more than you say for most emcees nowadays. when 50s ryming his words are felt, hes got a special charsima. I mean all he mostly talks about is gunz, drugz, and bitches but whatever thats his thing and he's good, maybe the best at it. Not everyone is talib and lets be real, If evryone ryhmed like talib music would suck because you gotta have a balance...you can't have intelligent uplifting rap without some good ol fashioned gun bucin gangsta shit yanowmean?

I just find it weak and ignorant to advocate some bullshit that really isnt reality in the grand scheme of things. Plus, he straight up quoted that he only started rappin to stop bein in jail and support his kid an shit..thats cool an all in some respects, but at the same time that is a blatent sign of an artist who really isnt an artist in tha first place...A jobs a job right?...i think thats been a staple of hiphop for a long time but hiphop is also very deep rooting in tha sole reason to express some kind of message whether good or bad - - hopefully good though, cuz who wants to hear about some fucking studio bullshit rather than something that really takes place in every day life that affects other people as well as yourself.
My point being...50 isnt spitin SUBSTANCE, hes makin money...point blank. Hes a street hustler and thats about it and everybodies eatin it up as though bein a thugy mean hearted killer-slash-murderer-whatever is some kind of fucking career move that would take them to higher places in life! Fuck that though!...Any educated person is going to at least acknowledge that avocating hate or and shootin fools and shit isnt a very wise choice, and it sure as hell isnt a cool thing.

I can smell a huge debate coming....

When 50 dropped his first LP a few years back, I loved it and I was telling everyone about it, saying that he's got a good flow and the beats were tight (Trackmasters). Now though, I just can't stand him. Maybe it's because I don't see anything different between him and most other rappers today, I don't know. Maybe it's the whole style, not sure. But it's just not my style of rap.

My way of judging an artist comes by checking out their first album, when 50 first dropped, I was only feeling 2 joints off the whole CD and WANGSTA wasn't one of them. But you gotta look at whose behind him, EM and DRE. They've both already set milestones in the game so if they say he's HOT, then those that follow EM and DRE will say he's HOT! It's that domino effect that has 50 on the move.

Isn't 50 Cent's "rap" actually spoken word with accentuations on certain phrases?

Anyway...

His syncopation is awful, and this is evident in "Patiently Waiting" where you can hear the difference in timing between 50 Cent and Eminem. Eminem completely takes over that specific song. Because... he raps... in time (what a concept.)

I cant believe that some people didnt even know about 50 until he was wit em and dre. For those that feel its because of those 2 that he's hot your wrong. As a matter a fact 50 had so many deals commin at him before he got signed to them that he could pick and choose who he wanted to be with. He actually had a deal for more money than he woulda made up front with em and dre but he chose them because it was a business decision and you get with who's hot to boost yourself. His flow has changed alot since he's dropped his new album and its for the better. Its not his lyrics its his flow and how he puts his words and his delivery that makes him hot. I live in the same hood as him and i know the block he chilled on. Yea its a bad area and yea i seen him there and i see the people around him and its hard over there. everyone sellin crack....trying to make it so im happy he made it.....who wants to be in jail all the time? his life sells and he's hot plain and simple

Yeah 50 was hot way before Dre and Em. I heard Wanksta like 2 years before he made a video for it, that song was old. As far as 50 "biting the big one," I think his live performances are kinda wack. That's the one area I'd say he needs to improve. Also, it seems like artists are rushing thier lyrics a lot more these days... you can hear it in the final recordings of the songs. They should take a little more time to make it right and hot.

I FEEL YOU K.O!!!! 50s been round for awhile and was respected in thestreets long before get rich or die tryin. That shotting was blessing in disguise because it actually changed his voice. He used to sound like a cross between mace and skillz. That cant quite close his mouth shit actually works for him. As far as his success being atrributed to dre an em, dre only made like 3 beats and em made 2 and the best beats came from 50s previous producer.........forgot his name

AS FOR PATIENTLY WAITING THE HOTTEST LINE CAME FROM 50

DONT SHOOT THOSE STONES IF YOU LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE.............YAW KNOW THE REST

seems to me if your gonna be an emcee, and cant emcee live than you shouldnt be in tha game - or at least go home and practice and get your shit straight. this guy is like the number one seller in tha nation which says for one thing he has a dam good publicist as well as a heavy name behind him in tha hiphop/music industry. But besides that, you would assume that someone of that calliber, publicist - or not, should be dope as fuck!...and i dont see it. Ive heard his original album as well and i wouldnt go as far as to say it was fantastic but i would definently say that he sounded a little better and had a different flow, but regardless he still had syncopation problems and just had a flat flow that wasnt that impressive.

OK let me rephrase what I was speaking on since some can't believe others never heard of 50 before he was with EM and DRE...lol.

1. I didn't grow up in his hood nor do I know what block he chilled on.
2. If "Get Rich or Die Trying" is his 1st album or 10th album it doesn't really matter. It's the first one I've heard.
3. I was speaking on "how I judge" which means its only my opinion.

I'm just not feeling 50 at the moment. I didn't like his SECOND album other than the 2 songs I spoke of in my first response. Don't get me wrong, I wish him all the success in the world. He could be the one that opens doors for cats like us { trying to be heard...}, BUT I cant put 50 up on a hip hop pedestal because he hasn't impressed me yet lyrically or his production.

word....i agree; i want people that have a shity life to make it and have good things too - thats the american dream i suppose even though that
phrase has become quite distorted for some time now...i just wanted to
emphasize the false realities that many people also seem to want to
believe in. People do come from shitty areas and they do have to
hustle for that next buck or meal, that shits real no doubt...the problem
is that when you get as big as 50 and you already have a thug image -
all tha industry does is feed on that like fucking voltures!!! you cant
honestly believe that the shit you see on MTV is 100% legit in all aspects
of how there real lives are when they leave tha studio and go home to
their wife or fam...tha shits plastic...its a fucking illusion. All i know is
tha ice iz thinning in valley of tha jeep beats...that shit wont be as big
money as it is for too much longer...at least from tha looks of things.

I think the whole CD was produced by Trackmasters. But I'm sure lots of people have heard his famous single on that album - "How To Rob (feat. Madd Rapper)"?

I was feeling 50 before Dre and Em picked him up and his voice, steez and everything seems to have changed from when he dropped some nice ish liek 'How to rob'. People seem to figure he's new to rap or something but he's been around for a long minute (hence the Ja Rule beef)...I mean dammit, even Sticky Fingaz is taking shots at him in Jackin' 4 beats..He's aigh't to me. Nothing spectacular...his true success lies in his ability to churn out track after track, get on so many remixes and mixtapes, promote himself as a gangsta and have some degree of success with the way he flows with his voice and sings on the hooks. I dunno if half the heads are sleeping but the women love it...Lyrically he ain't nothing special and I don't think deleivery wise he is either...but I guess he paid his dues and now he's blown up...so I ain't gonna hate.

I see almost everyone raggin on his live preformance...I just want to know the difference between his and others ..It's not like he stands in one place and raps wth no entusiasim...I've seen shows 10 times worse than 50's show his wasn't all that bad he got the crowd going when I seen him
Lyrically he ain't nothing special and I don't think deleivery wise he is either...but I guess he paid his dues and now he's blown up...so I ain't gonna hate.

He's not lyricaly gifted but if anyone can relate to street shit like he kicks then it's hot...For those who have been locked up stabed shot sold drugs or been around it see it everyday they feel it and pump it ..He's hot right now but he's no slouch when it comes to lyrics

This is one of my favorite 50 lines
