ill sample: pitch/loop probs

Ill fam - been a long time, but worth it. I got myself a super ill sample (joe dolan believe it or not)

Now at the mo I basically got it chopped and stuck in the Dr.Rex - loop works lovely with wicked drums at about 104 bpm - no problem

BUT what this sample is crying out for is to have the pitch shifted up

which of course sounds shit in the Dr. Rex .... ... ... so my question is;

do I need to use something like Acid to change the pitch and maintain tempo/sample length?

or will cool edit do this?

cool edit can do this. just go to effects - time/pitch - stretch. choos pitch shift (preserves tempo) option.

What Cool Edit does to the sample is no different than any other software. You can only go so far with the timestretching. Knowing how to use it and knowing what you want to accomplish as opposed to just clicking shit makes a huge difference.

it worked ok actually - the sample length was small enough that it didnt matter.
