P.S. The SL in that Rane mixer stands for Scratch Live. Which means it's not only a mixer, but controls software as well. And their faders are magnetic, which means they don't wear out until the magnets lose magnetic force. I'm tough on faders. Any scratch DJ is. Now that I think about it kid. You should place more attention on ya mixer than your tables. That's where the investment is. I've had way more mixers than I've had tables. The mixer changes the whole game. That's not where your sound quality is, that's what needles are for. Your cartridge determines your sound. I've even had different tables at the same time. Get you a solid mixer. To this day I let my boys borrow the tables, but not the mixer.

I aint rocking anything fancy, the best part of my scratch setup is the Serato.
My turntable is an old soundlab direct drive, my other turntable is an older belt drive soundlab that no longer works due to belt stretching, and for my mixer, damn thats a clapped out old gemini.
The man who said you dont need expensive equipment is right, it aint what you got its how you improvise with what you do have. I have very minimal equipment and just make do with it, my turntable and mixer are on the floor due to lack of space. Like I said sometimes you just have to make do with what you have. When I started I was mixing with a hifi beltdrive turntable w penny on needle and a belt drive soundlab. Just using the one drive for pitch adjustment, yes i admit it wasnt very good, but I had to start somewhere.
If I had the money to get all the things I really need Id be a lot happier but until then Im ghetto.
