How Do I do it, with out another PC or anything, cuz I wanna format the hard drive?

I'm seriously thinking about copping a zip drive. The disks will be solely be used for my betas and samples. That's the cheapest, easiest, way of backing them up or creating space just for your music. CDs are easy, I guess, but I have shitloads of CDs without covers for them laying around with god knows what on them...I need to know where my samples are and having just zip disk in a corner someplace is easier to find. look into that.
i don't think you would need to cop a whole new hard drive

a cd is a lot easier and cheaper than a zip drive though. if you had a mac it'd be easy. you just drag and drop your hard drive and all the stuff on your desktop onto it. but i dunno about with a pc. i imagine you just drag and drop everything in my computer. or something like that. someone with a pc please clarify for him.

With a CD burner, you could either just backup all your important stuff, or I think Windows XP (if that's what you have) has a backup tool somewhere.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/getstarted/backup.mspx

And like it says, you should check out the Help Center in XP. Lots of info there. This is the best way because if you try to backup stuff manually, you might forget stuff (like your favorites, etc).

It's also good to backup your audio manually (separate from the XP backup utility), just in case....

Werd im thinkin bout gettin a zip drive too. They got em cheap online for like $25. I just got a few questions bout em.

1) is the scsi 1 slow or should I get an internal 1 (I have a open bay for it)

2) does your computer recognize it like a harddrive abd you just drag and drop files too and from it

3) are zip discs expensive.

Thanks in advance.
