i think i need a soundcard

i just bought hella nice studio recordin speakers that i dropped about 7 bills on. I forgot the name of them right now i'll post it when i get home. I have them hooked up strait into my computer anyways i can definately tell these speakers are better but I know im not getting the quality i payed for and i'm sure thats just cuz of the way i have my system set up.
I need a soundcard but i don't kno anything about them heres some questions i have hopefully u guys can help:
which is better external or internal soundcards?
what soundcard do you recomend?
how much of a difference will having a soundcard make?
Will I notice a change? WIll it be worth the money?

If i was you i would go for an internal soundcard. If your not a mobile or touring artist having an external soundcard will only cost more than its internal counter-part.

To reccomend a soundcard definitely depends on your situation as to how many in's and out's you want and etc.. I've got an Audiophile 2496, and i love it. It sounds real nice, and was cheap.

The only downside to it was that in only has 1 phono input/output. But that doesn't really matter right now, because i have everything running through a mixer. A decent soundcard will make a big difference when it comes to good sound quality and midi.

Standard soundcards that come with your pc, sound ok but the lag they have when using midi is AWFUL. Having a decent soundcard will eliminate this

First I have to add plugging in speakers directly to your soundcard may not be wise, this may cause fire and the card to blow early, this I tell you from experience. An amplifier with an eq should give back to you the sound you purchased from em speakers. And about sound card, ya a regular one is just fine when you output to an amplifier you get the same sound as a high end, but the main reason why you may need to upgrade is to get more input jack such as mic - stereo - midi and digital ins - these are crucial for a studio - and I also suggest an internal also, I suggest soundblaster audigy 2 zs platinum - this baby is on the expensive side, but it is internal with an external drive extension to accept your mic and other jacks, and the noise ratio is non existent - you'll be able to record vocals at studio quality and midi ins are instant.

most poeple go for the audiophile 2496. it is mos def a good soundcard.

but if you dont need to use midi, go for a Revolution 7.1
they sound better but are cheaper cos they dont have the midi.

Yeah man au should get a sound card. You didn't say but ur monitors (studio speakers ) are powered ( built in amp ) right? If so you can hook them direct to the sound card. That would be ya best bet any way to hear exactly how ur music sound comin out the computer.

DJ fantom the m audio delta 4/10 sounds perfect for what i need, the only thing is i was kinda leaning towards an external model. Do you know of anything just like it thats external? and does it have any down sides that the internal doesn't have? and ohw much more would that be?

Yo Split personality I can't think of any externalones off the head dats comparible to the delta 4/10 as far as features and price. Cause 1nce you go more than 2 ins and outs on external sound cards they get more expensive.
Like $300 (usd) or better.

Like was mentioned b4 (I think in here) unless you have a laptop its better to get a internal 1. More features for cheaper price.

But if I come across a external 1 wit multiple ins and outs dats not expensive ill put you on to it.
