i have programs and midi capability but like.
i'd chop up a sample, play it and the notes would be fine but it wouldn't fill the whole 4 bars?
i'm really confused on what to do.
what program do people use to chop up samples and play them and set up their drums and shit.
i had reason, i tried to work my padkontrol wit redrum it worked for one day, then the next it just wouldn't play the notes and i'm 100% sure i set it up right.
iunno.

tell me what you guys do and in what programs.

is the length of the sample 4 bars? this is a bit of a vague question. i like to chop up shit in acid then ship the wav.s to my mpc. or i'll use djdecks and or i will burn what i want to sample on cd then use the cdj-1000 and if its vinyl i use the technics.

let me see if im getting this correct, you chopped up a sample its on point (tempo wise) and its not 4 bars. ? . have you tried to make it less than 4 bars , like maybe 2 instead. you might be able to drop it again on the 3rd or 4th measure of the 4th bar. when i have a sample that i like and its chopped and not filling up the space thats needed. i like to resample some of the more basic parts of the sample to fill in the areas that need filling, like a hi-hat or something. and also you can try reversing a small portion of it and then chopping that to fill in.

hope that helps,

do you set a tempo on the sample in acid?

i try to, but thats it. you can ask wings but acid is not the best for being correct on tempos. i basically just use it (the tempo in acid) to know a generalized area to get it mapped, then ship it somewhere else.

U have to learn the lingo man...lol...are you wanting to tune the sample? Pitch it up or down? I have Recycle by Propellerhead but I initially chop my samples in sony acid pro 6. Recording your samples into acid pro and then selecting the chopper works for me. Acid pro makes choppin multiple samples really really easy IMO. For detailed chopin I then pull it up into Recycle. Recycle is also what I use when I want to be able to match the sample to any tempo. Just pull up the grid view and chop on the grid lines and you can change the sample to any tempo. The only thing you might have to do after that is go up or down an octive.
