I'm not changing IllMuzik, that's like putting a bullet in your baby's head. Yes, it's a catch 22. I'm venting.

I know. I'm just being real with you. People like stupid shit though. Sites like Buzzfeed and WSHH give them stupid shit, because most of their market are people who probably don't have a college degree or are lucky to have graduated high school.

Quick story. I was in a barber shop, getting cut when my barber and a barber across from us started talking. My barber was going on and on about Nas and how ill he was. Quoting lines. Deciphering lines. everything. The other barber listened , and finally said something to the effect of....." yeah man, I know Nas is a good lyricist and all that, but his music makes you do too much thinking. I just rather listen to some foolishness!" He actually said foolishness, and though i don't agree with his statement about Nas, I knew exactly what he was talking about, and to some degree, agreed with him.

We are living in "The Age of Foolishness". That's what gets the ratings, sales, attention, everything. From WSHH, to Jerry Springer and Maury, to the millions on reality shows, on down to the over whelming subject matter of hiphop songs played on the radio.

Welcome to the "Age of Foolishness" ! Get comfortable, because it 's gonna be here for a while.

Well, I think it comes around. One of the downsides of the internet is that it fragmented the marketing capabilities of the recording industries to come up with "new" movements. This is seen when music pushed the hippies in the 60's or grunge in the 90's. These were counterculture subcurrents that the industry thought were profitable and thus helped cannibalize the older generation with a new product that was being supported.

Now, it's not really like that anymore. Sure, you have bands that kids in high school listen to, or rappers. But it's not like there's an overarching movement that makes people "more aware" of reality.

And remember the pop BS is the stuff that always appeals to the lowest common denominator (and women, who make up the vast majority of music buying public.)

So if I was a manager these days, I would rather invest my time in developing the next Justin Bieber rather than trying to get the next NAS on the scene. Plus, movements have to be packaged, just like grunge was packaged by colluding record companies and marketed through MTV to be the "next great thing."

In this day of fragmentation, I can get ANY type of music I want just by going to an artist's YouTube page. There's no one really dictating what the mainstream is supposed to listen to.

As far as illmuzik, there might be another audience to target: Artists. Right now it's really focused on production / producers but there's a hell of a lot of people trying to sing/rap/etc .
