Hello Illmuzik Family,

Yesterday I was one of the fortunate few in New York who grabbed Logic pro 8 and let me say that : THIS PROGRAM IS SIIIIICKCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

First, It took almost an hour at the Apple store to download JUST the 1st of 6 cd's/dvd's of this program on my Macbookpro. It got to the point to where the Apple one on one specialist had to constantly ask the Apple Certified technician for help only to realize that they both were puzzled at the dynamics of this newly stocked product.

After they only installed of of the cd's (Due to a space issue on my limited harddrive) did they suggest that I install the other 6dvd's/cd's onto my external Lacie hard drive because my mac was stuffed.

HERES THE GREAT PART:
I took my Mac home and started to play around with the effects on each track(By the way, IM A TOTAL NEWB TO DAW'S AND LOGIC---I GAVE AWAY MY MBOX2)

When I put too many effects on a drum kit from one of the thousand Apple loops, my macbookpro gave a prompt telling me that I have overloaded my CPU and that I should make adjustments.

Aside from my initial play around goof ups, I seem to be progressing well. The funniest part of my Logic investment is the HUGE Operator Manuals. Since the new Logic Pro 8 has incorporated "Mainstage", "Soundtrack Pro" as well as a few other items there are a couple of huge manuals. CRAZY!!!!! LOL

I will tell you more of my SUPER-NEWB progress as I go further. As for now, Logic Pro will be the cave that I will be in for a long while before I climb Mount LEARNING CURVE!!!!LOL

By the way, has anyone else here took the "First time leap" like me with LOgi Pro 8???

Holla back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its Logic Pro Fuckin 8!!
The name sells itself!! These dudes copped it on that alone!
Im sure Apple aint worried about people being turned off by no demo..
I wouldnt get it because you have to read 2 HUGE manuals and have an apple and a friend of mine had 7 and found out that tech support costs big cheese, so he got rid of it...
But then he goes through gear and software like a deck of cards so....

yeah man the manuals are no joke, they're way over 1500 pages for the new version. logic express is a good option also, most beatmakers would be fine with the features in there.

If you know anything about bit torrents you can get it.

My boy got it. I ain't mad at him. It's one of those things where you wonder how they take something you thought was perfect and improve it? And then when you see it... you are speechless.

I am trying to get some videos up of it in action bit I have my hands in a lot of pots. My boy had Express so he never saw Sculpture or Ultrabeat. Those two intruments alone make Logic bananas. Hopefully I can have a video up by October 5th. I am still editing my video of the rebuilding of my studio. Once that is done... Logic vids all day.

I´ve used Logic for like 5 years now. Started from Gold to Platinum to Logic Pro but I've been hearing cats talk all over town and here too about Logic 8 like it's the 2nd Coming....

I really have to go down tommorow at the dealership and scope what the fuss is all about.

Looks like am gon' be broke again.

I want to buy the pro8, but I'm afraid that my controller (tascam fw-1082) doesn't work with it. Does somebody knows that?

Yo I used to absolutely HATE logic at first. I initially copped logic express 7 pre-installed on my macbook. I knew the program was super beefy with advanced editing features but at first I just hated it. I thought it was unintuitive and ugly and needed to be refined.

Well regardless of my initial read-a-cover by the book situation with this DAW, I suddenly fell in love with it, and this at 7 not 8 yet. I started to find certain editing features crucial to my workflow that Ableton didn't even allow or offer and I simply started to get more frustrated and eventually switched over since I copped both DAWs in the beginning.

Now its all I use. For real. Shit is a honestly a really tuff program.
Plus once i started using logic pro 8 at school holy shit people!!! They fixed all of the things I hated about 7 and even made some cool improvements I would have never thought of.

Like the new Comp/swipe feature. That feature to me is a god send after making my emcee go through a few takes of a verse. Everything just gets collected in a take-folder and then I assemble the new comp in literally seconds with automatic crossfades! Im sorry but thats the shit!

And get this, this shits a trip - My instructor for Electronic Music is the cat that wrote the new Logic Pro 8 Apple training book. Dude honestly made me a believer.

Anyways, my two pesos.
