ive been looking into buying one of these, anyone have experience with hypersonic? are the acoustic sounds such as strings, piano, guitar, bass, etc better? i tried the sampletank demo and it was pretty good, but i hate that challenge/response thing, like u only get 3 installs with it right? the most important thing though are the acoustic sounds, because the synth sounds im going to rely more on the korg legacy, fm-7, or ultra focus for. if you got alternatives to these two, drop em as well, thanks.

I have hypersonic it's okay. I like the string and the synth sounds. The acoustic pianos suck.Guitars could be better. I fi was you I would get sampletank it comes with way more sound and they are great!!!!!!

I'd go with Hypersonic. I own Sampletank 2XL, and it does have some pretty nice sounds, but after a while, they get boring...I think you'd be much better off with Hypersonic. I don't own Hypersonic, but I've used it plenty of times at a friends house, and I personally think the sounds are more inspiring. If you are looking for good orchestral sounds, like strings brass and so on, then I'd get the Edirol Orchestra plugin...I own this as well and use it pretty much everytime I open up Cubase! You're going to be using Ultra focus for your synths right? Because I wouldn't rely on Sampletank for synth sounds, it only has like 20 presets, and you'll probably only like one...

I don't like Sampletank, because all sounds are equal and become boring in time.

a few things..... but first, chill on the harshness of your response nnxt, your gettin a little to much of an attitude thee....

second, i am one of those who want great presets. there is no point of buying something that doesnt give you great sounds out of the box. why buy something that doesnt sound good out of the box? nobody is "dick ridin" presets. i should be able to get nice strings, good organs, a nice rhodes, and a useable bass sound if i pay $400 bucks for something, should i not? everyone isnt a sound designer.
if i have to make the piano useable, then i shuold probably find another product. tahts the whole point of having a rompler.

now, as for the guy who said the sounds are "equal", im not too sure what that means. sampletank 2 is a very useable rompler. its not going to wow you with its synth functions but it has good, solid effects (and many of them) and solid, cheap- QUALITY expandability.

for the guy who called it "boring", well, tahts where tweaking does come in- but also, remember its add on functions wit hexpansion tank modules that are around 79 bucks a pop, and are very good.

hypersonic is a similar- ubt different type of moduleand has its strengths, namely strings and its effects section is also useable. I have both and niether presents much in the way of pianos; both their acoustic and electric pianos sound cheap and tinny. sampletank guitars and bass offer more in the way of expression and variety and PLAYABILITY then hypersonic…. Solo horns are also better and have a small handful of great patches. hypersonic has much better synth sounds, more of them, and better variety. It also has an fx section- car horns, gunshots, applause, etc.

what do yo uwant specifically? kompakt or kontakt may prove to be better options fo ryou then either of these, as they offer higher quality libraries for acoustic sounds (yuo said you dont need synths)

anyhow thats my input, i have had both for some time so feel i can make a quality assesment here....

..

Wasn't being Harsh i was being real thats how people are.. they get something oo lookie has nice presets.. DAMN there is no STORCH PRESET bummer *downloads or buys something else* or oo fuck there is no preset for a Deep String bass this app sucks ..
i dont remember saying it shouldn't sound good out the box... all the sound in Sampletank are useable very useable... I just think its funny how people wont Adjust the sounds to there likings they Expect everythng to be handed to them..

I wouldn't call myself a pro Sound Designer but i have enough common Sense to Read and practice basic mixing and apply what i learn to my production and i know what sounds good

I prefer Sampletank XL over Hypersonic any day. I've had Hypersonic for about a year and Sampletank 2 XL for about half that time and since I've had Sampeltank, Hypersonic hasn't had a look in. Also combine Sampletank 2 with it's sister program Sonic Synth and you've got a fam of programs where basically anything is sonically possible.

i would also try wuzikstation it's $100 and you get 3 vsti's (all run off the same engine) with different sounds.... depends on the sort of sounds your looking for.... i generally sample for live instruments or play them in or get someone else to

anybody got some good layering ideas for sampletank?

just put twop different sounds on the same midi channel. for instance, piano on channel 1, and then load a string patch on channel 1 as well. instant combi.
