Ok I got a Fantom Keyboard and I wanted to know how can I record an 8 bar loop I made to software to finish sequencing it without loosing the texture or levels of my sound.

I got fruity loops and I wanted to know if that would do the trick or am I gonna have 2 go out and buy Pro Tools or Reason which I am not trying to do if Fruity Loops can do the trick.

Also when I do that how will I be able to work on different parts of the beat like the drums if I want to mute them out at a certain point and melody if I record it all in one...

Can someone point me in the right direction...

I also got Cool Edit if that can do the trick also I will use it....

If you have cool edit that will work man, you just have to record each track independently to cool edit.....you would have to do the same in protools depending on how many outputs I think you have 4 of them on the fantom...how many inputs to your sound card?......just use this example.....sync the fantom using midi or mtc.....(you will hear some other opinions on this but use midi sync/control to make it simple it will work 99.999% of the time with no problem) what you will do is punch in your 4 bar loop to cool edit I recommend you use Cooledit's transport to cue everything in.......that way you can record the kick to one channel, the snare, the hi hat, the bass, etc.....then once you have the loop in cool edit your can mute and construct your song.....thatz my opinion for the setup without you having to go spend more $$$$$$$......if you got this board from the guitar center etc....and they have some time they can explain how to hook up the board using the midi and syncing it......you just have to remember midi out cable from the computer plugs to the midi in of the fantom and the midi in from the computer plugs to the midi out of the fantom then make sure you set up your midi section on the fantom to get the midi clock from an external source not the internal midi......then on cool edit set it up as midi clock out so you can press play in cool edit and it will trigger the fantom to playback or punch in the loop.....you can either mute the channels you don't want to record, or solo them one at a time so you have a multitrack dump to cooledit and you can work with the track on the computer, mix, add FX there....etc......you will need to do some digging in the manual as usual or find someone that is doing this with cooledit....

I have used the USB Cord to transfer files from the computer to Fantom but I have had no luck using it to sample from the Fantom to computer. Do I need to get software drivers or something for the computer or cool edit to recognize it? I remember with my Oxygen Midman 8 I needed drivers...
