Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.
My name is Allan, and I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada
I'm new to the music game... just 4 months into a Recording Arts program at a local college, but very interested in learning as much as I can about production.
I'm into hip hop and r&b primarily, but open to all sorts of musical styles.

I'm interested in learning to create beats and would love any tips from you guys that have done this for a while. How did you get started? What can I do to start? I have a bit of exposure to Reason, ProTools, and Logic... and I'm learning how to use all of those things, but I just don't know where to go as far as the creative side of making a beat... where does one begin?

Anyway.. just wanted to say hi.. I'm off to read some of the forums....

Welcome to IllMuzik. Glad to see some more canucks up in here! LOL.

Your best bet would be to search these forums and also to check out the rest of the site like the Articles, Interviews, Downloads, etc. Of course the FAQ and Technical section should also help quite a bit. Good luck reading all of it!
