redrum is right, you always use the headphones to listen to the bass you make. but the overall outcome of what it will sound like will be different than what you hear in your headphones.

go back to what drama said as well. you can pull it off if you know frequencys real well, that you can judge by eye. other than that mixing down with em is a no no

I see what you're saying, you too Redrum. I'll have a think about it and peep my future budget, then decide whether to get some just for the bass or just wait until I can mix the bass on some monitors, when I get them.

Yeah, your headphones should really just be an alternative reference to what your normally hearing on the monitors....Dont soley rely on your headphones to mix an entire joint. Headphones are good for trying to understand where things are placed in the panorama of your mix and to help spot specific details of sounds that may get washed out sometimes due to a non represented freq range in your monitors, or deficiencies from acoustics in your room.
