since the biggest argument for samplers and diggers is "keeping true to the roots"... well... we're talking serious pioneers here who relied heavily on synths for their sound...

ll cool j as well..... i mean, "one love"- for those who dont know, nas go tthat from whodini-that whole song is a synth song.

just, you know, wondering, for those who say synths aint "real hip hop", what do you consider run dmc and whodini? do they lose their pioneer card now?

the beat for friends is a classic.......

maybe the songs were built off samples and i just dont know the sampled records, but they sound very D50-ish to me.......

I have nothing against synth beats, as a matter of fact some of my favorite producers use synths heavily. You made a good point, many cats forget that lots of early classic rap songs are synth-based. The real problem nowadays, is that people who don't know shit about music buy expensive keyboards, press a few keys and call themselve producers.

I use all available weapons imma soldier....or at least used to be one.....LOL literally you can go back to grandmaster flash etc.....synths and elektro always been entertwined.......but some purists that just like to pick all of their sounds off vinyl and keep acoustic a lot of times just choose to stay away from that soundset......I think Wings posted an article a long time ago.....but if you consider yourself a producer its about the art of what you choose to do it with....if you write songs you must have some structure but if you doing hip hop Paint outside of the lines......you are a producer, an artist and you paint pictures with sound.......why would you have a pallete of colors if you are a painter and only use like 2 or 3 colors........that applies here.....I really don't know of anyone nowadays that are against synths completely, I mean Dre staying with G funk Roots never left them....and now the resurgance Synths in Beats like you hear from Lil Jon have fueled their placement back into a lot of the music again......honestly man its how you utilize any sound you can freak a synth and make it sound unique even make it sound like a sample so its on how you use the weapon....my beat in the showcase some people thought I used a sample....its completely done on the triton i just messed with the sounds....for an example.....and no Campo did not even Mention King Tim...fuggggg LOL
