I got back from NYC a week ago, I will follow up in this thread. Thanks for the replies.

This is only semi-related, but I didn't want to start an entirely new thread since we're already on the topic of "the music scenes" of various cities. I'll be heading off to college soon. Which of these two regions do you all feel has a stronger hip-hop scene going on: Boston or the Bay Area (SF)?

I definitely say the Bay. No doubt. Boston has a scene, but the Bay has all kinds of opportunities.

About this whole which city has a better scene discussion:
In some ways, a smaller scene, as long as its semi active, can be better when you are coming up that chilling in NY or LA or somewhere. I mean, like classic said 'everybody' in ny is a producer. there are mad people all trying to get heard, and while there are more record execs, etc, people who you want to hear you, there are also a grip more people in the same exact place as you. seems like building in a smaller city, get some work under your belt, get some contacts, a name, and then try to move into a bigger market?

Thats why i love portland OR. theres mad producers out here, but most of em are garbage, and there are A LOT of mcees looking for beats. from a buisness standpoint, its a small market but its easily accesible and its got plenty of disposable income. (read: wealthy/upper middle class white people) who are willing to buy beats.]\

and we also have some of the best weed. period.

i doubt i woulda sold any beats livin in NYC.

5th on the other hand, that dude is real. Sells beats nationwide. so dont let what im saying encroach on his respect or anything/.
