CAN I GET A AMEN?

why is this such an outrage? you arent at all bothered by the rampant glorification of these things, because they are always justified by calling it "real" or "its just entertainment" but when something like this comes out people want to go crazy. you dont think hip hop has exploited women? or the ghetto? what do you tihnk they are doing when they use the slangin rock, the pimpin hoes, the shooting, robbing, etc., in their songs? they are exploiting those events and te people who are still stuck in them and making a much greater financial profit for themselves then this guy is....

this guy isnt even a blip on the radar screen of issues that need to be dealt with. if you think lyrics in songs which are much more accesable, visable, and influential, arent that big a deal, do you really think this matters at all?

Here we go.....

I was just discussing this with a friend via email...
ok, the concept of comedy I understand that. You hear black comedians all the time, making fun of the things that black folk do to survive despite adversity.... I can relate, I'll laugh too.
I think it's easier to accept that from someone who knows what it's like being "black".... but I think one problem lies in the fact that this game was invented by a Chinese dude and is available worldwide. So this is not trying to laugh at hard times and experience..... this is a common perception of non-black folk mostly stemming from media and society's view of what defines being black.... (scary)
Although some concepts of the game may hold SOME truth for what SOME black folk can relate to and find humorous,..... It does NOT represent the MASSES of black folk who will be depicted and represented by this "game" to the world!!!
Too sensitive... hmm maybe but when you've spent countless times of your life feeling uncomfortable, made to feel inferior, blatantly disrespected just because of your skin color (Police), trying to defend yourself from the ignorance of a minority.... yeah you can become a little sensitive and defensive.
And I know it's hard to really grasp that concept if you've never been through it yourself..... I think if the world was different to say, and believe and practice this idea..... "yeah just like any other ethnic group, black people have their share of positive folk and knuckleheads but let me not stereotype an individuals, let me get to know them first!" then maybe I'd feel differently... but it (racism) still exists and this game is a message saying "This is what we think of you..." so laugh buy it and make me rich! camouflaged in humor

I know that's a lot to swallow so I'll conclude on this personal quote:

"I yearn for the day that a person is defined by his/her virtue and not by any physical characteristic! Maybe God will be gracious enough to blind us all from physical attributes, so then we may see each other as truly equal." (By jdublez OCT 2003)

Peace and Blessings

so..... you have good points, but they still do not answer my questions and statements.

uh, yeah i am not black and i have spent my entire life being uncomfortable, made to feel inferior, blatantly disrespected by police and blacks, whites, hispanics and asians, because of what i amand what i look like; i really dont belong to any group and so was always the outsider- and trying to defend myself from being treated according to the ignorance of some mexicans in southern california... .blacks are not the only ones who deal with this, and i know many of you will be pissed that i say this, but other people do go through it, so stop acting like they dont.

i am not saying i agree with the game itself, or what it represents, but this guy is making an entire series of them. i do not believe there was one for asians mentioned..... wonder why.

but- if you are to be offended by this, why are yuo no toffended by the music you listen to, the movies you watch, the tv shows you watch.....

whats the difference? all i see presented here is one (albeit valid) side to the coin. no one wants to even look at the other side.....

It's not like these things are made up, these things do happen and mostly in the ghetto, which, unfortunately, are mostly populated with black people. If you want to start somewhere, get rid of the people who are these stereotypes, who give ignorant people the image that all black people are like that. Also, get rid of the rappers who glorify that lifestyle. The steretypes are there, and came way before the game, the game is just making fun of that stereotype and the prejudice ignorant people who think that all blacks are like that.

ok im hereby withdrawing my comment that the maker of this game made it only do exploit others. maybe he WAS doing it so everyone could laugh at each other.....BUT i think he DIDNT do a very good job at it.

"You're a little short on loot, so you decided to stick up a bank. Collect $75," and "Steal $$$ if you pass Let$ Roll."

where is the humour in that?

if Eddie Murphy had been the creator of this board game, it would have served its purpose. Eddie Murphy made a cartoon instead..

"You're a little short on loot, so you decided to stick up a bank".

lol.. I think its funny! A board game that you stick up a bank in is funny. Maybe it aint positive.. We all know stickin up a bank is wrong.. But in a board game, its funny.

i think the idea of the game is riduculas, i am not a racist. But am white and think it's lame how we get blamed for all this racism, when my bet is the maker of this game was sure as hell not white. We would be arrested, I'm not one to pick on lesser fortunate people. Please don't assume i am a racist, because people hundreds of years ago were.
