For the graphic designers among us

I've been very interested in graphic design lately im currently taking a class teachin photoshop dreamweaver and illustrator i think we will be doing flash as well but the main point is ive been interested in doing album covers websites and business cards and such. now i'm way off from even beginning to branch out and start putting work on the market but i always like to kno the market value and business sense of things that im involved in anyway so my main question is how much do you guys charge for cd covers website design and things of that nature so if i do decide to fully get into it ill know the base level for pricing

Well, I usually charge pretty cheap compared to some of the "big dogs" in internet web design (aplus.net for example). My starting prices are usually:
$200-250 for basic HTML
$350+ - Flash website

The prices go up when more features are requested. And I do have package deals for the same prices (i.e. all sites come with 1 month free updating and maintanence)

As far as business cards and logos etc..

I've done Album covers for free just for friends so i dunno bout the price on that one.
Business cards.. I only did one for a competition (but i did win..)

and Logos, I designed on for a Bail Bonds Company in LA. (Big Fish Bail Bonds) I only charged $100 because it was a last minute thing and I only gave the time skeleton and they built around it. I was saddened to see that the finished product looked almost the same.

I want to get involved in that to. I plan on talkin classes in Fall myself. Sounds Fun and at the same time u can get paid. Real interesting topic to bring up.

too be truefully.. there aint no money to be made.. like big $$ unless u network or u get in w/ a company.. and then u're wrkin for them and they're paying u a cut of their profits.. which its small fries.. but they have the connects and the name... plus everyone and their mom does graphics now.. so the market is quite flooded w/ designer.. guessing i would say there's ATLEAST 10 on illmuzik right now.. do a search for graphic designer threads here or something about album covers or logos and see all the people that pop up...

But i mean workin locally since i do recording sessions i could offer them an album package. Every lil bit counts to me.

lots of studios offer that package, cos there is extra money in it, you should do it.
plus words always spreads if you do a good job.

thanks for the replies yall im always about "maximizin my hustle" and i started seeing it as ok im gonna be handing out my beat cds but i dont want em to be just a bland and blank cdr wit my contact info on it so im like i can start makin some cover art to make my product more presentable and its like even if some cats might not be interested in the beats they might love the cover art and want some work done for their albums or mixtapes so i figured it would be a logical move to try and tackle the market from all angles im also gettin back into dj'n parties again so im gonna be all over the board

My price is $30 an hour, but have only designed DVD covers not CD's.
