what you guys think about having a showcase only with loops?
only tight ground loops like a drumtrack with 2 basic samples, a variation,
world of beats-stuff. thats when you can tell people yeah that shit is
sick or to just drop it. coz if the loop aint right, the beat is gonna suck.

what you think bout that ?

ummm no it doenst make much sense to have just shocase a specific thing like this... if you want to showcase a loop then by all means, but i dont see the point of having a dedicated showcase to just loops.

I dont see why that wouldnt be included in the showcase, cuz the people that would be putting beats in there would be getting lasy. If beatmaking was JUST about finding a good loop and play it a drum and a bass... who would need a beatmaker ? And even if you chose to do a beat with JUST a loop, IF you want it to be considered complete, it has to be comparable to other, more complex beats... in terms of tightness...

I like simple beats (way more than complex beats... I'm bumping "Hiphop" by Dead Prez right now), but they need to be tight.

If your beat is not complete, well there is no harm in saying:

"Well, this is the beat I started, and I just wanted you to give me your opinion on the loop I found..."

or

"I didn't finish that beat yet, but take a listen and tell me what you think..."

i dont know tho, i usually dont worry about anything more than a loop until i find an emcee that wants to use the beat. i mean whats the point it mixing up the drums and throwing samples in random places if you dont even know what the emcee's rhyme is going to be like. so i usually stick to like making 2 good variations on the verse loops, a pre and post chorus kind of loop and a chorus loop. Just real basic shit like that, and then i find some samples to throw in to mix it up. But i dont get how some people will make an entire beat with all that shit thrown in before they've found an emcee to spit over it. It seems like they're just going to have to start over if someone wants to use it anyways.

i dont think its about if anyone would be gettin lazy. making a good loop is hard work. but it just seems to me that people are wasting their time with arrangements, breaks and intros without having learned their basics. so frequently often, when i listen to the showcase, i'm like "what can i tell you, you get a point for placing samples in intresting spaces, but who cares, the whole concept lacks".
its like going to the cipher and showing off freezes without having practiced any basic moves.
people would tell you to go home.
a good beat is a loop that makes an emcee want to rap over it. the rest is spice.
you often hear statements like "its too repetitive..." or "thats not my cup of..." at the showcase. well, i dont like ludacris beats -for example- but i surely can tell you if the rhythm makes me wanna move, even if i would have put different samples on it.
hmm, maybe just some food for thought, thx for the feedback anyway.

I Think that using a proper loop is as important as making the beat interesting. BTW, when you say loop, do you mean....
a) a part of the song you're making that is repeated or
b) an actual part of an other song that u use as a part of the new song you're doing

Some people lack basic skills in their beat making ability. Others find the greatest samples to loop. All in all, when you're making a beat, I can understand that you dont wanna put a whole lot of cuts and effect before there is actually someone on the beat, but, still, you gotta make the beat interesting by itself.

If not, well... the beat is obviously boring or too repetitive. Some cats like that, but then, those kind of beats are way more demanding for the MC, cuz he'll be the one making the beat a banger or a sleaper... In my mind, normally, both the beat and the MC gotta bring fire.
(In any other case, it sounds too underground to me)
