man, this shit is intimidatin!!! I've never started a new program where i didnt pick up on somethin the first day! Which means this shit is as powerful as yall say! GOOD! One of my ILL-Brothers hooked me up with a Tutorial on CD, so I'll be learnin soon. So should I kiss FL Studio goodbye or what? Thoughts...........................................

im a longtime FL user, partime reason user. I know how it feels to switch.

what i would do personally, rewire reason tru fl for a while and when your used to it switched completely to reason if thats your wish.

What i like like the most of reason is the sounds basicly and i think someone can reach great results whetehr it be with fl or reason. As long as your share your new creation with us, its all good :p

Righton Stress - My only advice is: Take it slow man....baby steps......Once u take the time to really understand the basics of the prgm its all butter from there. Youll have to hit the manual up a few times here and there and mostly just be patient - the prgm is really not that complicated, but it can seem confusing for the first few weeks. Anyways, once u got the basics of how everything likes to work and the routing, then youll be makin whatever u want. I think everyone tends to be hindered by the hardware or prgm at first, but once u start to feel comfy with your choice of music creation the possibilites are endless.

Here is my advice, use that default rack, build on it, I would add 1 more mixer(so you will have like 32 channels to route to...), load up a few of the samplers.....and then save that setup......as the default so you won't have to ever dick around with the cable routing again.....unless you really like to do that.....by default it is set up to auto route so that makes it easier........I used FL and REASON for about year and Half in between Gear.....use them both man see how you like it......I copped that 2.5 and Fruity Producer Editions when they first came out, you gonna find good and bad points of each....but you gotta love the ability to chop samples and then export to recycle, load soundfonts.....also use all of your mixing techniques you would use on a real mixer and you can come up with some sick beats.......I recently reinstalled Reason after the crash of my main PC.........but soon I will finally get a MAC

Forget about FL thats an amature program. (I guess the same could be said about reason, but then FL is a novice program) Just learn reason and you will be a happy man. Reason comes with a few demo songs, load those up and then fuck with it. Thats the best way to learn how shit is structured. Welcome to the club.

p.s. people are DEFFINITLEY going to disagree with me on the FL call. I know this, but thats where I stand. Great program to start with but after that...

I've used Reason and love it. I recently tried FL, but I could mess with it. I went running back to Reason.

One!

Reason is a good " training" for using hardware. And if you started on hardware like me its so much easier to use... The only thing I don't like about reason is the sorta dead sound it has... But rewireing into ur favorite recording program fixes that... Can't wait for 3.0 with the mastering suite...

Oh and here's a lil trick.... Attach a effect (compressor , reverb , whatever ) to the send on the mixer... Then turn the s1 and or s2 knob up on any individual chanel on the redrum and you can effect that drum indivdualy ... Comes in handy when you wanna add a lil compression to just 1 sound... and or a lil reverb to some thing.... You can have 2 effects @ a time (s1 s2)...

That is a great trick, I didn't know you could do that. Thanks.
