Finally Got my Motiff

The ES 6 was delivered to my doorstep yesterday and i am hype as hell. Cant save songs on it since i have no type of storage device. Kinda makes me think i am buying equip in the wrong order. Think i should of got the new comp first. Oh well. It's still cool as shyt to have. Anyone with any tips they have on using it will be appreciated by me.whisper

Did read the manual.... i am aware that it has a sequencer........songs are not saved once the machine is turned off unless you have a smart card or whatever the hell you call it. Otherwise you need some sort of hard drive.Thanks though

Man get you a smart card then. I forgot if it takes a sd card or compact flash. But either 1 you can get up to a 1gb card for like $120.... Seems like a small step after actualy getting the motif.

it is ,but i think i will just get one of the smaller sizes and just continue saving up for some sort of hard drive....stand alone......or with a comp

I got a Motif too, you can check out MLan so when you get your computer you can send up to 14 tracks simultaneously to your computer with high quality clarity. No analog to digital conversions involved so your not losing any sound quality at all, very good thing to get at some point.

But for now you can get you a USB Flash Drive 256MB or 1GB for around $100 or even less, it fits right on the back of your Motif in the USB slot. Very portable. I also have a USB external 120GB hard drive I don't know if that works with the Motif, I haven't tried it yet but I'll let you know, those are pretty cheap too and you'll have more than enough space then to save things. Of course your probably done with Motifator.com it's a pretty useless site as far as the forums are concerned, too many newbies you'll never get your questions answered. Try it anyway there's a few more sites that are linked to that one if you need specific tips or you can try here.

the mlan for the original motif doesnt "really" work.... the only real m lan option is for the es version these days. the original was abandoned.

Damn man you know when I bought the first Motif when it came out they at least gave me a smartmedia card man...I love the guitars and strings though they tight, not to mention the drums........those are good keyboard drums......the original Fantom....not the X but the one that came out like 3 years ago got the best drums.....I dunno if they used real samples but they tight...

I got a Motif 'classic'.

Yo man u need to get a SmartMedia card (i got a 64mb, dead cheap) with a SmartMedia card reader. and also you might wanna upgrade the sampling memory, coz the ES comes standard with a whole 0mb of sampling time.

neither of the Motifs have any kind of memory built in.

Yo i bought a 128mb smart media card pretty cheap so i can save songs now.... In reply to BigD i think it does usually come with one but minds was used......so hopefully that will last me till i get the proper funds for the comp.....I will definitly try the Mlan... I have an ES so hopefully it will work..wasnt aware of the no sample time so guess i will upgrade the sampleing memory also.....oh and the sounds from the Motif are the shyt....i think most of you alreay know that though so i will leave it at that. yeah the ES versions of the Motif work fine with Mlan16E. I have an ES too.
