Aight yall, I'm searching for a new synth board (maybe just a rack though) and between these two I am stuck!!! They both have there pros/cons but I think it will all come down to the sounds for me. I know they both have some of the illest sounds around but in your opinion, which have the more Authentic instruments and dope synths.. I know it may sound stupid and all but I want to hear from yall.. Everytime I try and mess with either of them I don't know what the fuck I am doing and I can't explore the sounds and possible capabilities. I would love for someone to show me but that's a little difficult for me right now with my schedule.. So, I am looking to yall, the illmuzik familia..

P.S.

I am in no rush to buy at this time.

i just played em both for 2 hours over the weekend...motif's pianos, guitars, and strings sound better to my ears. i think the fantom will sound just as good or better in those areas if you buy those expansion cards. the fantom has some great and original synth sounds, great for pop or dirty south music. now the fantom synths arent "better" but i feel they are more inspiring for the music i do, you may feel different so u gotta play em at the store. so at least for me, the fantom is better synth wise, motif is better in acoustic stuff. they really complement the other well. bang for the buck wise, i think the fantom xr is better than the motif es, its madd expandable.

I have both racks and i must say
its like apples and oranges.. neither is better then the other, each execles in their on catagories, to be honest they compliment each other perfectly by making up for each others weaknesses.

Whatever u do, by the racks, they are much more powerful then the workstation counterparts

Here is a quick summary

-motif has great realstic sounds out the box, u can plug that sucker in and your ready to go, it has dope guitars strings , rhoads piano etc....Its crisp sound can bring tears to your eyes. I use the strings and piano all the time and and people swear its live... it also has a solid group of effects

fantom is mad verstile, out the box it has great synths, and crazy filters. Its very verstile. I have done crazy things like run the motif audio THREW the fantom rack and use the filters to create some crazy sounds. The fantom also has a dope sampler with realtime timestrech. THis along with 6 slot expanabilitity(on the rack) leaves you with a powerful peace of hardware,
The fantom X rack is a gutiar amp/sampler/synth/effects box all in one.

To me they are both indispenseable...

You know what, I think I am just going to buy both of them.. I think I'm going to go with the Motif es rack first and then I will add on the Fantom X rack. Like you said class and I hear this from numerous people who use it. The filters and effects are amazing! I love using filters and effects so that will definitly come in handy.

Shit, I might even just go out and buy both of them off the bat, just save up until I have the money and go all out.. I think you are right kojo, I need to just go to Guitar Center and play with them more. I think I haven't played with them enough to really experience all the nice sounds. I appreciate the feedback yall, it has helped me a little more on my next purchase(s)..
