Im going crazy over trying to get this technique to work on Live

Live users help me outt

Believe it or not....I actually show'd this guy how to do this...now he put's out a vid.....lol He's even using the same type of midi keyboard that I have..the Axiom 25 (exactly)

It's very simple...has nothing to do with the program. You can use anything thing that you can load a scratch sample into. I do it with live and have been for about 2 years now...or at least since I first started using Ableton live. The first time I ever did it was when I was only using the NN-XT like this guy is.

They only thing that he's doing that makes the scratch sound authentic is movement of the pitch bend. It's just like a DJ (like myself) using his crossfader to break up the sound. Of course you have to have a dj's state of mind to pull it off. The first time I show'd some of my dj homies the trick they went bananas. I was doing shit they couldn't do on regular turntables. Actually I was doing shit that "I" couldn't do on turntables...lmao

A few members here like 2Good can attest that I've been doing this for awhile now.

Once again...the technique is SIMPLE...You need something that can hold the sample. In your cause since you work with AB Live use the drum rack. Find you a nice vinyl scratch library, load them up. Trigger them with either pads or keys (doesn't matter) and move your pitch bend like as if it was a up fader or crossfader on a dj mixer bring it back and forth is a rhythmic patter. That's it....nothing magic. I actually stumbled upon it just playing around.

HERE'S AN AUDIO EXAMPLE WITH ABLETON LIVE: I used old school vinyl kut "really" and "fresh"

I do the exact same thing with the MP on my Q-Sliders.
The main thing is to get a convincing scratch sample that works with this technique.
Then u just gotta get used to coordinating the pitch bend with the note on/off action.

I've never ran the lite version of LIve so I can't elaborate on it's limitations. You should either have to create a midi track and drag Drum Rack to the midi track and it should open at the bottom screen or you can double click Drum Rack and it'll automatically open into a new midi track. You'll see the pads C1, C#1, D1, D#1 etc etc. Now you can find the samples that you want to load then drag and drop them on the pads from outside of Ableton. Or you can do it through Ableton by click on one of the File Browser folders going to workspace and then navigating to the folder or hard drive where you samples or located then drag and drop them on the pads from there.

I highly recommend you get the REAL version of Ableton if you really want to take advantage of ALL it's features and that you find a Tutorial on Ableton ASAP so you want struggle so much getting around the program.
