Hey look for a used Maudio delta 44 it has the external breakout box with lik a 4 to 5 foot extension...it allows monitoring etc.....I bought that card when it came out and used it along with an Echo Mia before getting protools LE a few years back...or just a newer one I don't know what models they have now though I haven't had to buy a new soundcard for a few years now....

I have the Delta 44 also, it is great for me, However you have to install an internal card and use a break out box. Now M-Audio has wholly external souncards that are firewire or USB. They work great as well. This might be a better scenario for use with a laptop. I just purchased 4 more M-Audio Pre-USB souncards after already owning one for laptops at work. They have two ins and two outs, either XLR or 1/4" and it has a headphone jack and a monitor jack as well. You can adjust your latency also. But if you can afford firewire, its probably even better.

Yup, i was just about to start a topic on External Soundcards...

Im using Reason2.5 atm, but early next year, im going to HOPEFULLY upgrade to an MPC 2000XL...

I really wanna grab a new soundcard for christmas tho, but tight budget....

Any of u know some decent, not amazing, cheapish soundcards that are compatiable with the 2000XL?!?!

Thanks and Peace...

You you right about the firewire option, etc...and those soundcards that are physically designed like the mbox...its crazy how things change in just a few years but I had forgotten about those pieces, I would agree that's prolly a better option at this point since 44 is now considered ancient...LOL
