Well thats just it!....Its like all of a sudden your a freakin movie composer or somethin all cuz of this wonderful new synth - or sample for that matter. Im tellin ya thats what we all need in our home libraries of crates and sounds. Obviously, we either have to pay rediculous amounts of money to get them or dig for days but its sooo worth it in tha long run when your at tha drawing board ready to do your thing.
I know you all dig what im saying too, its like elementary type shit since we all fiend for tha next dope tool/sound to work with.
I jus thought id mention it and see how many others agree...Cuz from personal experiences every time i either digged for a hella long time or all of sudden came across some crazy synth - its like automatic inspiration!..............Ironically, i was jus thinking this cuz i really dont have any good synths, but if i did i would prob. write a huge percentage more of synth style beats from scratch than i do right now....Anyways, Holla at ya Honky!!!

You gonna finish that beat and throw it in the showcase so we can see what you came up with mayne?

Do you ever mess with the program synths you have to see what you can accidentally come up with like in Reason or something?

I used a CV splitter and linked a subtractor bass synth to a bass kick on the Redrum and it started doing some crazy shit. I have spent the last month just trying to understand it so I can control it and try to make a basic beat out of it.

That sounds dope Om!........I still havent tried that with tha linking shit together with tha cv - im intrigued to try it though.....
Yeah i do mess with tha stock synths, but i dont even touch tha subtractor anymore now that tha granular synth is in reason...tha malstrom is sooo fucking dope!, It jus needs some dam refills!..........But yeah i mess with tha stock Malstroms all tha time since there isnt much else to offer.

And Yeah, ill post tha beat - but it wasnt really tha beat that made me start tha thread, more so jus tha fact that it came up in my head since i was wondering if others have tha same thoughts about this...

I'm hook on snares too. It something about a crackin' snare to me. You can almos make any kick sound good, but a dope can change tha mood!

I think its crazy how all of a sudden - you got a billion things runnin through your head and its almost like you got so many you dont know which one choose!?....At that point i always jus play trial an error and usually end up using almost tha first synth i pick...Thats good shit!

Good presets can be inspirational. Some people just buy synths for their presets, and then get new ones when the synth manufacturer comes out with new presets.

Yeah I like synths even if you don't use them a lot they help create melodies quicker than keys or trying to think of a popular melody to flip....I love ol school but I am glad that synths are finding their way back into hip hop now...not just the baseline acoustic instruments....I mean a lot of people don't like the Dre & Quik flavor but to me that is the funkiest shidd you could ever have for the pimped out tracks....I was in the studio with some cats from Riverside Cali and they have a completely different style when we played beats with synths its like they were feeling them more than the underground (primo or sample based) styles so tracks and what is hot is a regional and if you work with MC's from different areas you cannot just have one type of beat you are making it widens my creativity and how many tracks I can sell....but the best thing I like to do with a synth is turn it into a completely new sound using filters and fx...even though keeping the virgin synth is ok but you gotta find a way to shape it into a hip sound....

have a song ever been inspirational to yall, like earlier today, I was on this other site, they was talking about Hate Me Now, then I went to go download it from *****, and as soon as the song started I was inspired, I made a beat, in less than 20 minutes, I think its my best one to date.

So have that ever happened to yall?

Sacred One...I analyze tracks all tha time - from someone elses that i wish i could emulate in one way or another to my own...Im basically always thinking of a better and even different way if tha situation permits - to create a fresh new beat....So yeah in one way i can feel you on that.
