I don't think that budget monitors, especially at 5 1/4 inch that the ESI nEar05 has is not a good deal. I don't think the "woofers" are large enough to give proper frequency representation. You'll probably have to get a subwoofer.
I don't condone the purchase of budget monitors unless it really gives the frequency response it indicates, and many of the low-end monitors don't. You'd be better off mixing on good hi-fi speakers.
I suggest purchasing when you can afford higher end ones, like Genelecs for example, that's when you get the best value for your investment.
