elephant man is sick yo..im glad he's finalyy gettin props in the us..hes been rockin crowds in jamaica for over a decade...he, along with the mighty bounty killa are the island finest in my opinion....people think all these jamican songs are new....sean pauls.."get busy" and "like glue" are both over 2 years old. i was listrening to "like glue" when i was sophmore in college and im graduated. "pon de river" is almost a year old as well..elephant man is one the best most versatile enterntainers in the world...i got these vidoetapes of jamican concerts...shits sick ..people are blowin torches, bustin shots in the air, blazin all kinds of chronic, and doi some of the illest dances u ever seen.....im real happy that dancehall is startin to get the respect it deserves

He might have some other fresh shit, but that new video and song is wack to me. It reminds me of the Baha men who let the dogs out, just corny colorful and goofy.

We are on the same exact page. him n bounty are sick as hell. dancehall is definatly movin up. i jus hope they keep it up. the video was tight as hell to me. it had all the dances i only heard the songs for. he should had the wave dance in there. sean pauls videos had all the dances in it that elephant man made the songs for and he didnt even have him in the video. John wasnt even in any of the videos and hes the one that made the dances. either way dancehall is still movin up and thats a good thing.

Beat off- ...uuhh you probably would have to keep up with elephant man to feel all the energy from the video, but i think it was hot to death. esp how he came out and snatched the mic and pushed dat nigga that was c-walkin of the screen. then came out flagged up reppin jamaica. dats shits real as hell. damn all the colors if you know elephant man u know he gangsta. he dont got shit to prove. the man just wants to have fun and let everyone around him do the samE.
ENERGY GOD...A DUN DI PLACE...LARGE UP YA COLOSSAL EVERY TIME!!!

There you guys go with the "hatin" thing again. How about Just not like it. Can people not like something anymore with out being called a hater? Supercat, bounty killer, beenie man, even sean paul are all better than this cat. Its my opinion. People went crazy over lumidee in the clubs too her shit is wack as fuck.

First of all you propbably dont even know any "NEW JAMAICAN DUDES"(especially not "poppin up all of a sudden") sean paul, elephant man, killa, super cat, di whole of dem been doin dis shit since way back. and the whole pan the river -->DANCE!!!<-- isnt a saying or phrase it is a DANCE. how many damn times have you heard rappers say get low or take it down low or some other bullshit like that. or how bout throw it up or c-walk and all dat good shit. pan the river is a dance that a jamaican nigga named john made up THEN elephant man made a song about it. THEN Sean Paul put it in his video (because it was so popular thanx to ELEPHANT MAN)...THEN Elephant man did a video for the song. the same goes for all the other dances you seen in sean pauls video. elephant man made most of those dances famous. Sean Paul just had to represent since he was the one in the spotlight. he had to show america how we do do it down in jamaica dancehall style. sean paul aint even my favorite but he doin da damn thang. BOUNTY KILLA an kid kurrupt sizzla all dem niggas represent propper.

Ok point taken, but im not new to dancehall, i jus dont feel it sorry.
Im hip to tha fact that tha pon di river shit iz a dance, that was pretty self explanatory back when it was maybe cool a long time ago...but now whatever.?
And honestly - i havent heard any rappers say get low unless its tha eastside boyz, and they wack too. Obviously its my personal preference, so you dont have to get too deep - you dig?.....I jus basically think tha shits wack, regardless of what genra its coming from. Im a music lover of all sorts - i really dont give a fuck what it may be...but if tha shit iz jus comin wack and has no substance, than why waste your time or money?..........Sure its a dance thing...but how cool can that be, and for how long?....Its like tha fuckin running man, shit jus gets corny with time jus passing it by, but whatever right?
But hey, if you dig it , or you like to do that dance - COOL...

It seems that Reggae and Dancehall artists re-use a lot of what other artists within the genre had made e.g. Steve Lenky's beat "Diwali" as used by Lumidee and 50 other artists, a friend of mine even has a CD with approx. 20 different artists on all using that beat. Is a little boring. Also, I generally don't appreciate artists who sound like they have asthma or are taking a dump, that counts for both rap artists and also dancehall artists etc, but other than that, I enjoy listening to a lot of dancehall/reggae/ragga etc...and also like most of the current influence it has on rap and r&b.

tru tru everybody is entitled to their opinion. about the riddims tho. i like how the dancehall system is setup. i mean the songs are good and wut not, but just as important as the songs are the performances. and with everybody on a riddim (instrumental) it allows for a more explosive performance because you dont know who you will see pop up on stage next. and plus it also helps outs alot of di youth in da ghetto tryin to make somethin of theirselves, alot of the time they cant get a big person on their riddim like beenie or bounty but they are still doin their thing. but ima bout to go and get my school work done (im in computer apps class rite now) but yea the whole dancehall system is jus amazing to me. from the dubplates to the dances to the dj's spinnin the records they all tie in perfectly.

i agree, the dancehall system forces artists to come up with the best song possible...imagine if in hip hop when a hot track out..all the major artist made their song using the track..then we would really see who's really got skils, who's the best, and who's full of bullshit
