I do know that, and maybe I will change things up if it is a big problem. But Spotify is free, it is the next itunes. And it is amazing, there is really no reason to not use it. It will do to itunes what netflix did to blockbuster.

The other reason is totally selfish, I really don't have time to edit an entire mp3 together. And this is much faster, let alone not having to worry about illegally putting out music like I was. The playlist are also so portable its really easy to put on your phone, or to email. And it ties in to facebook. Its pretty sweet.

Do you think it is a problem?

Spotify was getting a big push w/great functionality, and the legal aspect you bring up is great as well, but it has some big issues with pay, and isnt quite that big in the US (Unlike overseas). Idk how popular your show is right now, but I cant listen to it because of the principals of me not wanting to sign up because I refuse to support spotify and their shady payout (especially as a person that works in parts of the industry).

You have some good points, but I'd search for an alternative until they breach the cusp of popularity, at least.
Its a tricky situation from my POV though.

Actually not quite. They pay you your percentage of their overall plays for the month, not a set rate for your plays.

Spotify does not sell streams, but access to music. Users pay for this access either via a subscription fee or with their ear time via the ad-supported service [just like commercial radio] - they do not pay per stream. In other words, Spotify is not a unit based business and it does not make sense to look at revenues from Spotify from a per stream or other music unit-based point of view. Instead, one must look at the overall revenues that Spotify is generating, and how these revenues grow over time.
Spotify is generating serious revenues for rights holders, labels, publishers and the artists that they represent. We have paid over $100m to rights holders since our launch, and the overwhelming majority of our label partners are thrilled with the revenues we're returning to them. Spotify is now the second single largest source of digital music revenue for labels in Europe, according to IFPI.
It is also important to note that Spotify was created as abetter, more convenient alternative to piracy. Estimates suggest that around 95% of all music downloads are illegal. Spotify is now monetising an audience the large majority of whom were downloading illegally (and therefore not making a penny for the industry) before Spotify was available.

Its a mute point Chris, seriously. I've read that and their responses to the industries critisms of them, months ago. It doesn't change the specific point you're addressing though (Im actually not clear what your counterpoint is to be honest).

Since we're on this subject, these posts and the comments are a great convo on this topic, (Just incase you havent seen this already) This deserves its own thread btw, not to highjack your thread
