Down south type snair

Im trying to get that down south type snair with reason.

Any suggestion on how to tweak the eq, compression and which snair to start with?

If you get the correct sound to begin with you shouldnt have to do much to it.
I dont use reason but I dont have a formula on snares either. I just try and use my ears. What is it you want it to sound like?

There really isn't a EQ or compression setting to get the sound you want....They all start with the 808 snare....now you can layer it with some other similar type sounds under it to get it to sound differently.... But compression and EQ isn't really going to change the sound THAT much.

There's a ton of kits online that have those sounds you're looking for.

take the 808 snare and layer it with a snare with more bottom to it. If you want more crack, boost around 7k... light boost. Don't want to layer with another more bottom heavy snare(though you should) boost a little around 250hz.
