Hey

I dont post much on here but shit yall probaly where da answers is at. Anyways I was wanting to use FL like a sound module. I was going to be using Sound Fonts. Whenever I load up a sound font I notice that there is channels i guess which refer to midi. I set up the MPC for MIDI but Im only allowed to work with 1 channel. Like if i have a bass on Track 1 MIDI 1A and I insert another Sound Font player and I go to select a piano for Channel 2 MIDI 2A it does not play the bass. I have been tryin to figure dis ish out for a minute and still no hope.

Please get at me.

p.s. if u dont understand exactly what im trying to do please let me know.

I actually have a midi keyboard connected and mpc. I wanted to use the keyboard to play the sounds and sequence in da mpc.

Maybe I have it connected wrong. So how should it be connected so I can confirm that.

p.s. get back at me asap.

I dont use a midi controller yet (bought it but not using it... go figure), but I know that, in fL studio, 1 channel can use only one instrument... NOW, when I'm talking about channels, I'm talking about the flstudio channels, not the soundfont channel. In FLStudio, the channels are called "patch", I think...

If you want to use more than 1 instrument from 1 soundfont (instruments from different patches), you have to open the same soundfont in different channels and choose the instrument you want on the channels you want...

In picture 1, those are 2 FLStudio Channels...

In picture 2, you can see, the 1st "channel" of that sound is called "Nineteen"...

(maybe I made a mistake, there, but I dont think so...)

As for your question, yes, there is a link between channels in soundfonts and the midi channels. Actually, soundfonts can be used (and are used) as the midi soundbankof your computer. There is a soundfont in your computer that is used as the soundbank of your computer, so when you play a midi file, the program goes to that soundfont and plays the sound that is on the specific channel...
