I yearn for the day when i can fully support myself by producing records. But there has got to be a job out there that isnt boring repetitive and shitty. Is anybody seriously cool with their job? .. does anybody love what they do for a living? let me know cuz i need to find something i can get into, give me some ideas.

I'm a dual-rate supervisor for the poker room in a casino. I deal occasionally and I supervise occasionally. I love it, can't get paid this much without a college degree. I get paid 19.50/hr when I supervise, and 5.30/hr + tips when I deal. No real complaints just yet.

I ask myself this all the time Ash..Im like can it really be true that some people actually get up and are happy and excited to go to work?
I HATE my job , but I'm thankful for it..Court Clerk- Domestic Violence/civil protective orders.
I would really like a gig that makes reeeaally good money lets me do music , all while giving me the same amount of goof off time I have to be on this site all day now.

I don't really like the Job I have right now. I manage database & inventory for this company and is also in charge of what items go into production. It's a chillin job cuz I get to do whatever i want but it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm thinking a career change and been thinking about doing real estate part-time once I get my license. Hopefully if it kicks off I'll run my own office and etc.

I DJ @ clubs on weekends also. It's suttin I do for extra cash flow. I would love to make a living off producing records though. Hopefully I'll get there soon.

multi-dicipline engineer. When the management needs an EE, I fill the role. When they need an ME, they look at me. Systems Engineer? Yup... been there, done that. Right now I'm a cross between a software engineer and RF engineer. Next month could be something else.

It pays the bills... and I get to play with the sweetest technology.

i can't say i love my job. but i've worked in worst places doing worst things. it's pretty much a dead in situation tho, no room for advancement. i'm considering taking an apprenticeship in a particular (electrical or sheetmetal, carpentry..maybe) i'm still researchin, plus we're considering relocating to another city and state (we've heard raleigh is really starting to jump off) so it'll have to be a profession that pays well where ever we decide to move. i pray for the day where i can support my fam with diggin for records and making/selling beats. i'm keeping hope alive too.

Electrician
People always need electricity. My boy just finished his 1st year probation. He started at 19 and now he makes 25 an hour. My other partna have been doing it for 10 years and he makes 37 an hour plus overtime. Dangerous job... working in Arizona heat... but you get paid.

Medical Field
My wife's girlfriend is a med tech. She preps blood for operations and manages the blood bank. 27 bucks an hour. Works 7 days a week, 12 hours a day and then 7 days off. During that 7 days, she gets overtime after 40 hours. She was going to be a pharmacist but that field is locked down and there is mad hazing to get into the field. But pharmacists make crazy doe... legal drug dealers. Makes sense.

Real Estate
I got my license and have had it for two years. I was with West USA and moved to a start up following my Mentor. She had 25 years experience. My problem with Real Estate was it is hard to get people to trust a young black man. It is easy to impress people because they think I am a monkey... but as soon as you show people you have some intelligence, they are easily impressed, but not enough to trust you with their $300,000 house. The experience has helped me with running my own music business because you come to understand contracts and you understand nothing happens until you make it happen. Average commission is 6%. And you split that with another Agent and your broker. So you get around 2% take home. So 2% of a 100,000 dollar house is $2000 bucks. So imagine if a house is $300,000 bucks. You get around $6000 depending on the deal. If you get no aid from other agents you can make 100% of the total %6 of the commission. There is tall money in real estate but with the way the economy freaked out it is hard for every Agent out there. I would say about 60% of the mortgage companies out there have gone under because of how bad the market is right now. And like I said, it is hard to get someone you don't know to trust you with their home. Especially when they grab their purse when they see you in a grocery store.

Graphic Design
Been a designer for 10 years but I have moved more into the tech sector. Both industries suck to me. 1st reason. Pay sucks. You can find all kinds of designers. They start you out at a company making around 11 bucks an hour. You can find gigs making about 35,000 a year. But you will get beat out by someone with way more experience than you. Underappreciated. The tech sector sucks because people don't want to pay you for what they don't understand. Like a mechanic. You don't want to pay a mechanic because you are scared they are going to over charge you because you don't know what they are doing. But if you ever try to change a timing belt on a 24 valve DOHC V6 you will see why they charge you 60 bucks an hour. That shit is hard. ALSO.... if you are a good tech, that means nothing ever breaks. And if nothing breaks, it seems like you ain't doing anything. Then people want to get rid of you because they think you ain't worth anything. Take Fade for example..... you can go a month without hearing from Fade. Seems like he ain't doing anything cuz you barely ever hear from him. Tell him he doesn't do anywork and he'll show you the blood on his fingertips. They tried to lay off my department. I went toe to toe with the CEO face to face. Told him they cound't do it becuase they didn't understand how important we were. A year later, the company in India that tried to undercut our department couldn't handle 25 percent of our workload. After 9 years with the company, my last day is September 21st and then I invest 100% of my energy into my music.

There are two ways to go:

Job Security
Get a gig that is going to be around.... people always need food, health and utilities. Get a job for the city somewhere there and you will always have a job. Radiologist make like 32 bucka an hour to take X-Rays. Takes like 9 months to complete the program or something. There is always crime... you can become a cop or something else in the crime field. You will always have a job and make decent money and the fellowship is good. One of my partnas is a cop and he makes made doe. I think he's dirty. How does a 25 year old cop afford a Cadillac CTS-V and an EVO 9 and a house? My best friend and brother are Correctional officers. They make around 50 a year because of overtime and their jobs have made them tough as steel. They MMA train and my bro makes $100 an hour as a boxing coach on the side. And again the fellowship is great for them. They do a bunch of stuff together like camping and paint ball and sh*t. When they throw parties everyone in the unit that isn't wokring usually shows up. And if you are single, it's a wrap. All they do is practice shooting guns and play video games and phuk chicks. Sort of like being in the military without all the travel and war.

Passion
Get a job doing something you love. You might not see the financial rewards but waking up getting to do something you love is priceless. Normally... this is a field involving helping people. The reward for knowing you are helping someone aways outweighs monetary value because fellowship is priceless. You build bonds with people and meet a lot of interesting people. If you have a strong passion about something, invest in yourself and become an entrepreneur. You answer to no one and you control your own destiny. Some people just don't have the discipline for that though.

I can't say that I like my job. I work with kindergarten teachers and students and believe me, it's exhausting!! These kids (babies) know waaaaaaay too much for their ages and they know very little (or less) of what they should know. Many of them deal with too much drama that they bring to school with them. Nah...not feeling this job at all. My dream is to produce full time and let me add successful. That makes a big difference on whether or not I can feed my family on a regular basis.

I used to love my job,,,but it's got really bad lately. I been waitin on a promotion for 3 years now. I mean the job itself is great. I make my own hours, usually come and go as I please,,,but at 37K a year, I can't maintain bein a home owner. I'm currently lookin around and put in with Verizon as a supervisor. Actually if I get it, I'll be my man (B. Grimm's) boss,,,hah!

Ash, life is short man. Take it from me bro. You can't be afraid to make a new step and find a job that you like. Love seems to not be an option. Ah fuck it, come to my B-Day party in October and I'll just smoke you out and you'll be fine.....
