do u have an artist in mind when u start a production?

everybody has diffrent methods when starting a production. what i wanna know from you is do u have an artist in mind when u start a production or do u just make what u feel and then start to think what artist could have interest in it?

Myself, if am just doing a beat for the sake of doing one (or for the catalogue am building), i just do what i feel. If i am doing something thats going to some project, definately gota have the artist in mind.

When I make a beat I never have an artist in mind. When an artist is feelin a beat and spits lyrics over it I'll modify the beat with the artist in mind. The only time I made some beats for an artist was when I was doing the majority of tracks for his disk. It never got finished tho cuz dude got accepted to school for basketball and he went chasing his hoop dreams. I don't mind tho it was good experience for me at the time.

I agree completely , but if Im doin a remix or something I keep that artist in mind when building the beat.

at this stage, i'm just really selfish with making music. it's artistic creation, and if i were to think of someone else, i'd be somewhat sacrificing a bit of my freedom as an "artist". just how i see, but then again i'm a novice lol

I make all of my beats to the taste of my artist/rapper/my boy, and if he don't like, try and give it to somebody else
