How's er'body doin? Well, I cooking eggs when I thought of this subject. When I cracked the egg onto the frying pan, I thought about that drug commercial, "This is your brain, this is your brain on drugs". Then an idea popped up.

Can an individual's personality reflect the music they make?

I think it does. I'm a drinker and I smoke weed. I drink on a weekly basis but I only smoke up a few times a month. I'm easy going and mellow and I can careless about what's happening around me. I listen to a lot of R&B and Club joints so, I enjoy making those types of beats. I also listen to other types of music too but not as often and I hard time tryin to make certain beats such as rock and jazz. So what do yall think about this subject? Leave some opinions and feedbacks.

Key questions you should answer:

1. Type of genre you MOSTLY listen to

2. What kind of person are you? (Sad, Happy, Mellow, Angry etc.)

3. Do you smoke, drink, do drugs?

4. **What style of beats or songs do you usually make? (Hard, mellow, sad, happy etc. and don't give me the bullshit answer "Oh I make all types" I know that, but we all love to make that one type.)

5. Make up your own damn questions to answer.

Nah, I think its more leaning to influences and technique that affect the music that people make. It actually takes years to develop your sound to the point where you can flip to different moods, sounds etc, and most people don't challenge themselves to step outside that box.
Industry producers don't really get to show their artistic side, they are only paid to produce what the labels want them to do, you may never hear your favorite producer's work that they are passionate about.

I agree with the threadstarter in a sense that personality can determine your influences, but just because I'm a jerk (for example) doesn't mean my music will be aggressive,
in many cases its the exact opposite.

Actually I find myself making hard hip hop beats for the most part. And that's my favorite type of hip hop...hard, aggresive beats. When I was younger I was all about Wu (still am) Onyx, Boot Camp, KRS, Public Enemy etc....I liked groups like Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul etc, but I leaned towards the aggresive and even "angry" type of hip hop...it just spoke to me. So I find when I sit down to make a beat...it usually has that type of "angry" feel to it.
Personality wise I guess it kinda fits me..but I'm not an angry person by nature. I am the type that can be aggressive...I've been in plenty of "altercations" in my life but by no means am I a knucklehead. I have made other types of beats...more melody driven...maybe w/ a soft kinda sample or something. But in my case...my influences growing up I think have more to do w/ the kind of beats I come out with.
Interested to see what everyone has to say on this...good post Kurtis
