The few DJ's I know that still use vinyl have purchased 1-2 of the new turntable like CD players because, like me, they predict that when these players have settled, vinyl will gradually stop being pressed. If it happens, it will be over a long period though.

by environmental agreement signed by every nation the use of the main source material in making vinyls will be discontinued after 2009........so unless they figure out another way its no more vinyl after 2009

LOL, thats ridiculous. The amount of things that could be done to help the environment, and they choose such a [seemingly] unimportant aspect of it. There are so many other things that would help our environment more than stopping the production of substances used in vinyl. Every governments main concern should be finding an alternative to fossil fuels, not only as they are the substances that are primarily destroying our environment, but also because they are running out.

Just out of curiosity, is the U.S. choosing not to this agreement too? [like their refusal to lower CO2 emssions, and even the government's refusal to keep emissions under a certain volume?]

tis because its actually by products of the petroleum refining process that are being banned....see these things are needed to produce vinyl...it just so happens that it covers alot of area, not just vinyl...so its a pretty major environmental bill....unfortunately us purists are hit the hardest

^^Oh right, I was thinking about that actually because vinyl is as you quite rightly say made from chemicals that derive from fossil fuels [certain hyrdocarbons which are fractionally distilled from oil], but I still have to stand by what I said...there are so many other things that could be looked at before this.
