The 1 and 2 inputs are having that "dusty" sound or a bad connect sound starting up, especially the #1
If it is just sitting there you can see a low level hum slightly moving the vu meter.
If you fiddle with it it gives that god awful staticky noise that kkkkccckkkckkckc ckkkck ckkck sound (nah mean?)..

Someone suggested blowing an aircan into the 1/4" input there but is there anything else I should do to fix this?

Thanks.

some duster or pot cleaner or the cables. also check your specs on the card to make sure you have all the right settings set.

What daw are you using with the digi --00x? could be a sample rate discrepancy between the daw and digi 001 or 2 same thing happens with logic 9 pro for me at times.

If you get it cleaned out and it works again, buy a patchbay, they are designed to take wear-load off of the main's jackplate. Saves you money in the long run. Don't use TT, use TRS, TinyTelephone was only devised because patchbays used to have like 40 connections going on, there's plenty of room for the cheaper and sturdier TipRingSleeve unless you are recording symphonies or have a plethora of analog outboard gear.
