If that shit ever gets made and it's not better than the Chronic (like that's ever going to happen) then it's pointless. How many years has the wait been???

I @Iron Keys and @Fade don't see Dre releasing Detox in an era of #MeToo that the entire music industry has been silent on and also the cultural/musical landscape has changed. People were outraged by Rap in general when The Chronic hit and today Dre would be canceled while still being a bedroom producer.

My biggest thing about it is,

Dre was like my biggest influence and inspiration. Dr Dre beats are God Tier. Now, I had been waiting for Detox for sooo long that the excitement has worn off. It's also at the point that what can we even expect from it? Great production - of course. But I can't even imagine musically how it will be. Will it be an evolution of what we know love and expect from Dre, or will it be a deviation?
The album has been so long in the works where do the tracks come from...

No idea.

Like I said, favourite producer, always want to hear Dre productions, always love 'em.

Hopefully it'll usher in the era of post-trap.

West west y'all.

I @Iron Keys respect your Dre stanning but my fave producer has always been Daz. Second to him, Big Hutch followed by Battlecat. One my new faves is Rance from 1500 or Nothin.'

What did you think of Compton?
I thought it was mixed bag but the thing that bothered me was the mix. All the songs sounded tinny and over compressed. And his voice didn't even sound like him half the time.
It better be better quality than Compton because to me it didn't match the sonic fidelityof his first two albums.

it was tinny as f*ck well said, was pretty shocked by the poor quality-maybe made for club soundsystems? or for cars with subwoofers?
maybe u need the infamous beats headphones to get it-but any soundsystem i listened to compton on did not make it sound any good

I downloaded it, with the intention of buying it. Just couldn't wait.
After flicking through it, I had no intention of listening to it let alone buying it.

All In a Day's Work is on it? Good track. But yeah, to me it sounded a mess.

For me... when those leaked Detox tracks happened... Ludacris guide vocal one. Under Pressure. Naked. Kush. Mr Prescription. All of those tracks, I was at the time really excited for it. They would have made a banging album.

For me, when the unfortunate happens and Dre leaves this plane of existence, you know there's going to be about 10,000 pure fire unreleased beats that get leaked or used.

Yep agree. Heard some of them on YouTube. Also 10 steps to recovery and hey young world (something like that sounds like still Dre). When Kush came out I thought this is it! Then he released that shit I need a doctor song and then went back into hiding.

Cant even be arsed waiting on that shit. Been 20 years..that last album had like 2 good songs..Dre is done man. Maybe he cant cope with the feeling that he has to be the best when he delivers. Especially after people been waiting so long.

I dont understand with all the epic producers in your team, you cant make a good album now and than. Blows my mind.

Dre @LiveLargeBeats is from the it's gotta be a hit with the suits era but he peaked at the too big to fail era of music marketing so his mindset is what we'd call in this era go big or go home.

It's one of those things that always happens with production.

If you look at Apollo Brown, that guy STILL uses Cool Edit Pro and his beats reflect that. It's like he's stuck in time, which is great for music.

Pete Rock was a big SP-1200 guy then he switched to the MPC and his sound changed.

So someone like Dre goes from old gear to a full fledged studio with tons of gear to play with and of course his sound changes. I think he's probably tinkering with the sound too much rather than just making beats. But like you said, he's got a whole team with him and they should be able to come up with something dope, but they're not. Maybe it's beyond gear. Maybe they've got to that level of success where they lost the hunger to make something great. Maybe Dre should isolate himself in a small cabin somewhere with an MPC and just make beats.

The thing is, the longer people have to wait the higher do expecrations rise. I think if this is gonna be released it will be meh.
And im saying that as someone who grew up on his shit.
