DBX 166XL. BIG PROBLEM! Help please

Hey everybody

I just got a DBX 166xl compressor and it doesn't seem to be working for me . I hooked everything up, but i don't get any sound from my mic. I just get this staticy sound, like when you see snow on your tv. Please help me I read the manual, but i still can't figure it out.

If it's a condenser you got to pre-amp it before.

Great comp, but not for your mic... I mean, I use this one mainly for drums because the gate is quick as fug and brings hella pressure on kicks, snares and basslines. For vocals I'd use something more subtle like a focusrite ( compounder in my case ).

But seriously, the 166xl is underrated I honestly couldn't imagine not having it after I got it... ehr... yeah its that good...and has sidechains...
